My go-to supermarket (Randall's) had previously said they would not mandate masks. I was so looking forward to maskless shopping, but decided to call the store to confirm. Seems they reversed their policy, and now "mandate" masks.
Further discussion with the manager revealed that they will offer a mask, but no throw you out if you refuse. Just PC semantics BS. I'm off for some free-breathing grocery shopping!
I think that’s exactly the approach to take I
live out here in Uber Left wing niur at San Francisco Bay Area and I just throw the mask on on my face as I walk in the front of the store
and then just slide it down on my chin and nobody ever says anything
and that way you’re not raising a ruckus you’re “” complying “” and you know nobody gives a crap and you’re not restricting your breathing
I mean I think that’s the best approach to take in blue states m
It’s kind of like not wanting to get on the IRS radar for example
Exactly. I haven't had a Karen experience yet and not sure Karen would appreciate my response. Many businesses in Texas are going to open to 100% and not require masks, but the media is trying to convince everyone that that's not the case. Gotta keep that fear ginned up.
Our Kroger’s have those signs too and I’ve been ignoring them for months. Nobody has said a word about it.
As I understood it, Abbott’s announcement (EO?) also states that people who do not wear masks cannot be fined/punished. Is that accurate?
Hell, here on the San Francisco Peninsula, I get comments and stink eye just walking down the street, hiking on trails or sitting on the beach without a mask. They need to rename the state to Karenfornia.
Ah, thanks a lot for jumping right in to help ensure there is another surge of Covid-19.
Although Governor Abbott said that he trusted people to do the right thing in helping to keep the spread of Covid-19 under control, when I see the number of people who continue to not take Covid-19 seriously, I know that his confidence is misplaced. The people who refuse to take Covid-19 seriously are rushing to behave in ways that guarantee a surge of disease.
I have started keeping a separate spreadsheet of Covid-19 cases in Texas. I have already been keeping such a spreadsheet for the US and the world.
Incubation time ranges from 2-14 days, with the average around 5-6 days.
Time to death ranges from 2-8 weeks, with the median of 2 weeks.
Therefore, I expect to see new case and death numbers rising after these delays.
Abbott and all of the other governors who have dropped restrictions acted too quickly. They should have waited until a majority (over 60%) of the population has been vaccinated.
Correct. However, if a business requires masks (which is their prerogative) and a customer refuses to wear one (and will not leave the store), then the customer COULD be arrested for trespassing.
-- By giving the appearance they are sick or must be contagious, those who wear the completely ineffective mask talisman do not realize they are slowing America's economic and social recovery. On the other hand, the maskers don't realize they are performing the only "socially responsible" purpose of masking; that is, they are participating -- though unwittingly -- in spreading the virus which helps build natural herd immunity.
-- Although completely ineffective against transmission of a respiratory virus, wearing a mask is dehumanizing which, combined with shielding a person's very identity by covering their face with a mask causes normally kind, decent and respectible people do cruel, even inhumane things to other people, such as preventing a grieving husband any human contact with his dying spouse, or stealing an entire year of a child's childhood, or forcing a single mother to shut down her financial security and her dream of running a successful business it took her a decade to build.
This is the larger perspective of what forced masking of a healthy population (all done for a "good reason" of course.) ... a perspective that has been dismissed as irrelevant or even irresponsible by most politicians, by most unelected bureaurcrats and, of course, by far too many politically-compromised, celebrity-obsessed "experts".
I’m on the SF Peninsula by Mountain View. I put a mask on when I walk into the store and take it off as soon as I exit the cashier. So fed up with this crap.
I took my son and girlfriend to brunch on Sunday. We parked right in front of the restaurant. It’s a ten second walk to the patio in the rear. My son wanted me to mask up for the short walk to the table. He said it is ok to be seated and only then can we take the masks off. I refuse to play that stupid charade and point out to him how utterly ineffective that is, that NOBODY is going to catch a disease walking in the open air with nobody else on the walk to the table. Then, of course, all these people were sitting next to each other at the tables for an hour or more.
It’s the utter lack of any common sense of critical thinking about this that really gets me. People have zero ability to perform the most rudimentary risk assessment on their own. I’m surprised such people don’t step off curbs right into the path of an oncoming car.
This is going to end up like when the CHL law was passed.
A bunch of businesses virtue signaled with their signs until enough customers walked in and told the manger “I would have shopped here but don’t feel safe not being able to defend myself so I am taking my business elsewhere.”
The signs were mostly gone in about a month.
There may be another surge of COVID here in Texas. But I don't think the masks will have much to do with it. We have had surges in Texas with everybody masked and staying home and with businesses all but shut down and about to go under. I do not believe we can hide from the disease.
Companies will not want to put their employee’s lives at risk playing mask police so watch stores drop their personal mandates quickly.
The “surge” will be all those illegals..
‘Karenfornia’...LOL!
‘Karenfornia’...LOL!
Kroger is also VERY ‘pro fag’...
You are a fear mongering, ill informed idiot. Many, many people had this thing back in December, January, February a year ago and did nor know it at the time. Those people don’t need a vaccine.
I do the same in Smith's grocery and WalMart in Eastern Nevada (mandated masks). Some icy stares from the Karens but nothing else. People are getting sick of this crap.
Doesn’t sound like that “exDem” part is accurate.
Do the math:
In one year’s time of being exposed to this “highly contagious” virus, there are 29,807,439 cases out of a population of 330 million. That’s an 8.8% infection rate. Out of those, 540,684 have died** - a less than .02% fatality rate.
**questionable at best
Still afraid?
When government mandated wearing masks these companies were in the clear. Now they are making what is clearly a medical decision that will cause negative health effects for their employees. Those employees are going to sue these companies for all they are worth.
