My go-to supermarket (Randall's) had previously said they would not mandate masks. I was so looking forward to maskless shopping, but decided to call the store to confirm. Seems they reversed their policy, and now "mandate" masks.
Further discussion with the manager revealed that they will offer a mask, but no throw you out if you refuse. Just PC semantics BS. I'm off for some free-breathing grocery shopping!
Randall’s and HEB both caved to the “we’re all gonna die” crowd who probably flooded their phone lines after Gov Abbott announced the end of the statewide mask mandate. IIRC, both Randall’s and HEB initially said they recommend masks but it would be up to each customer.
whooo peeee
Don’t wear a mask.
If you want to, fine. Wear one.
I think in Texas you only need to wear a mask when you’re robbing a bank.
I expect every business in Houston to do likewise. I was in a Kroger yesterday and it had the “we still require masks” sign on the door.
Certainly, there are other grocery stores in Houston besides Randall’s, H-E-B and Kroger.
Kroger...now there’s a collective. Thanks for posting/reporting from Houston, ‘oilman.
Needed — a law prohibiting merchants from requiring masks. Anyone objecting can double or triple mask, or stay home and order online.
This may be more about tort lawyers and insurance companies than government at this point.
Just go about your day without the mask. I go into various Kroger stores, HEB and so forth with no mask or I will pull my mask under my chin...NO one has approached me.
Masks should be optional EVERYWHERE...I would love to go into a grocery store without getting comments/stink eye from other customers. That is the reason I quit going to Kroger in East TN...other customers made me feel like a Jew in Nazi-era Germany for NOT wearing a mask. It was NOT a comfortable feeling...
>>I think in Texas you only need to wear a mask when you’re robbing a bank.<<
Pretty strange...Texas is one of the few places you can go into a bank with a mask on and carry a sidearm. No kidding.
And guess what? The banks are not robbed. Go figger.
Bingo!
I have gone in both Krogers and HEB several times the past week and no one said one peep about no mask.
At my supermarket, they have this woman stationed at the entrance looking to wipe down your shopping cart handle. I just blow right by her. Even if I believed in sanitizing cart handles, what sense does it make to grab a "dirty" cart outside and have it cleaned once inside. You have already touched a "dirty" handle!
My HOA finally is allowing the gym at the clubhouse to be used again from today forward. BOOYAH!!!!

I agree because the businesses will keep us masked up forever for the few Karens that are too scared to go without, even if they have had the vaccine.
It’s the freaky Fauci-loving Karen customers who are forcing them to do this. If the Karens spot a store where people are - gasp - not wearing masks, they go on social media or on Nextdoor and trash the store. Or they go up and pick a fight in the store.
Frankly, I think businesses have got to be tougher in standing up to this. They should also remember that many customers (such as me) refuse unless absolutely necessary to shop in a store that requires and enforces masks, so simply for economic reasons they should stand up to the Karens.
