This is not some confected culture-war spat. Woke zealots want to purge culture, and they’re succeeding.
Every 2 March is Read Across America Day, a day to encourage children to read. It is also known as National Dr Seuss Day, as it is celebrated on the birthday of the beloved author. Dr Seuss’s classic books, such as The Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham, have instilled the joy of reading in generations of children. And for decades, US presidents have made Dr Seuss central to the day’s festivities.
But not this year.
In his presidential proclamation marking Read Across America Day, Joe Biden conspicuously removed any mention of Dr Seuss. In doing so, Biden bowed to the demands of woke culture warriors who have campaigned to label Dr Seuss and his works as racist.

Why the cancellation of Dr Seuss matters

Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes are next. Not joking - I read a bunch of them recently - very old-fashioned, definitely not “woke”. After that, Winnie the Pooh & Christopher Robin?
this has me more stressed out than them cancelling people off social media.
It rips at the very fabric of our culture and that isn’t good.
Only Commies and Nazis ban books.
We must fight back. Ridicule these people at every opportunity. Make them feel stupid for what they think. Oh wait. They don’t think. They “feel”.
Alas they’ve come for Dr. SEUSS, they wish to hang him with a noose. They claim his tales were racist bent, they judged him fast, missed what he meant.
But if we look inside his tales, you’ll find the balance of the scales. Remember when Horton heard a Who, and we heard the wisdom of the Lorax too. The lesson behind Green Eggs and Ham, that changed the mind of Sam I am. Remember too the rotten Grinch, who once would never give an inch. He taught us lessons, one and all, boys and girls, big and small.
So if you’ve judged his works as poor, you should re- read them, I implore. The man we know as Dr. SEUSS, turned our imaginations loose. His impact was beyond compare, he taught us it was good to care. To accept the red, the blue, the green, and on each other we can lean.
So if you still won’t give an inch, your heart has hardened like the Grinch. Release the grudge, the hate, the rue, and embrace the hope of Cindy Lou.
Probably.
Saw a review on Amazon for Mother Goose - woman having a snit fit because the word “pussy” was in the book and she refuses to say that word! Of course, “pussy” refers to a cat ... I guess she’s never heard of the Puss in Boots fairy tale or Puss ‘N Boots cat food, either. I really hate the way the Left/Woke/whoever, appropriates perfectly good words/symbols and warps them into something negative.
“We must fight back. Ridicule these people at every opportunity. Make them feel stupid for what they think. Oh wait. They don’t think. They “feel”.”
Caving into these lunatics is the worst thing to do. The proper response is not only ridicule them, but to tell them to F**K OFF. When their allies call, tell them the same thing.
The Left and the perverts have ruined so much.
Scroll down to the “Dr Seuss cancelled” video....I think you’ll be glad you did. :^)
I bought for a Christmas gift a set (5 books) of the Rush Revere series for some young relatives being home schooled. Rush wasn’t going to be around long & I figured the Left would be burning his books after he died. His widow says they’ll still be printed, but I wasn’t taking any chances.
Excellent.
I remember over the holidays hearing a survey that The Grinch was THE most popular Christmas movie of all time. I wonder if it will be banned hereafter.
Suess’s pictures of Germans and feckless “leaders” in France (Vichy) and England (“the peace in our time” idiot) and Limburgh are just as brutal as anything he did re Africans or the Japanese.
Of course, they are all white. So it’s OK.
The greatest irony of all of this was that Dr. Seuss was an admitted socialist and several of his children’s books had anti-capitalist undertones. These new anarcho-marxists are just plain destructive, not just of our (formerly) free society, but of this Communist utopia vision. To coin a phrase from the recent Batman films, “some people just want to watch the world burn!”
Nominate him for a Nobel Peace Prize. That would be great to watch.
What we have to do is to harass their employers, threaten them and their families, their jobs, picket their homes in large numbers. But, we’re better than that. So nothing will change because they don’t fear angering us.
I thought it was cancel culture pure and simple until I saw the drawings in the New York Post. One of them is so blatantly mocking of black people that it makes you want to burn it yourself.
The critics who did this probably knew that was the worst one, but they wanted to show lots of others so that it would be a huge controversial issue and they would get into the media.
I once sat next to the CEO of the publishing house I worked for at a big luncheon thing. I knew he took the job because he was a First Amendment absolutist and relished these issues. I told him one of the Nancy Drew books had not been bought by our local library because it was perceived as being prejudicial in some way. The next time I went to that library, it was there.
I am basically a First Amendment defender.
But you have to see this one to believe it.
I grew up with Dr Suess and remember my first grade teacher reading Cat in the Hat to us. I read my children Dr. Suess books and will do the same for my grand kids. I cannot imagine what the Woke Inquisition will allow kids other than Marxist propaganda and critical race theory. This book banning is so like the Nazis purging “Jewish” books.
