Explanation: It’s always nice to get a new view of an old friend. This stunning Hubble Space Telescope image of nearby spiral galaxy M66 is just that. A spiral galaxy with a small central bar, M66 is a member of the Leo Galaxy Triplet, a group of three galaxies about 30 million light years from us. The Leo Triplet is a popular target for relatively small telescopes, in part because M66 and its galactic companions M65 and NGC 3628 all appear separated by about the angular width of a full moon. The featured image of M66 was taken by Hubble to help investigate the connection between star formation and molecular gas clouds. Clearly visible are bright blue stars, pink ionized hydrogen clouds -- sprinkled all along the outer spiral arms, and dark dust lanes in which more star formation could be hiding.

There is a cat hiding in the explanation links today.
It needs a good scrubbing to get rid of that brown, and some ointment applies to those red blisters.
Cat is “hidden”.
“A spiral galaxy with a small central bar”
I’ll say.
I fell off a barstool and landed on the sidewalk.
MtnClimber;
This is a beautiful galaxy!
If I look at it in food terms, its a mocha malted shake in a blender, the fountain attendant just poured chocolate and raspberries in the top!
But its really much more beautiful than fountain shake. I know that I am looking at a color altered picture and the color makes it more beautiful.
The triplet galaxy: its like a black painted push scooter
laying on its side. (Usually how I see them.) The galaxy on the left is the handle bars, and the other two galaxies are the wheels! You dont see the platform and riser because they are, of course, black and blend in with the back ground. The wheels are of course, star color!
Of course, there no way to comprehend the distances between us and these beautiful galaxies.
Didn’t open...
I think it looks like two paintings by famous painter Arnold Ziffel. They were done after he ate a cheeseburger which inspired him to paint Nude at a Gas Station and Three Nudes at a Gas Station Rolling All About.
Incredible images! Both.

Well, you date yourself! (Are you from Hooterville? :)
I see no nudes.
They are abstracts. you must have missed that day in art class.

Arnold looks sort of like Lassie doesn’t he?
Yes, sort of.
Estimated distance is 37 mil light years. So, fairly close as galaxies go.
(If I watched it was for the 3 daughters from petticoat junction!)
