Earlier this week, news broke that Prince Harry will lose his honorary military titles as his and Meghan Markle's royal exit becomes permanent. The decision, which was made the Queen and announced by Buckingham Palace, is thought to be a disappointment for Harry, who had reportedly been trying to work out a way to maintain his military titles after the royal exit. Royal insiders worry that if Prince William is given the titles, it will only put more strain on his and Harry's relationship. This week, Buckingham Palace announced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will officially be removed from their royal patronages and that Harry will be stripped of his remaining honorary military titles in light of the couple's decision to make their royal exit permanent. In it's statement, the Palace explained: "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have confirmed to Her Majesty The Queen that they will not be returning as working members of The Royal Family. Following conversations with The Duke, The Queen has written confirming that in stepping away from the work of The Royal Family it is not possible to continue with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service. The honorary military appointments and Royal patronages held by The Duke and Duchess will therefore be returned to Her Majesty, before being redistributed among working members of The Royal Family. While all are saddened by their decision, The Duke and Duchess remain much loved members of the family." The decision is said to be a sore spot for Harry, who had reportedly been working on a way to maintain his military titles after stepping back from his duties as a full-time working royal.

I wonder if he realizes he’ll have his 15 minutes of fame and then Hollyweird will spit him out like sugarless gum. He’ll get some invites to Hollyweird parties but only as a curiosity.
I don't really blame Harry and Meghan for wanting to do their own thing (even though they are liberal, especially Meghan).
I think I don’t like ms markle but since I don’t know her - well maybe she has honest intentions. Maybe.
However, in a way I don’t blame Harry for wanting out of that suffocating system. Did he want to be on display like a toy soldier his entire life and follow the dictates of the courtiers? Not too many of us could stand it. And his mother being literally being hounded to death had to make the whole thing unbearable. So when the press went after his wife it’s understandable that he was ready to leave.
I wish him well - he chose to escape the trap he was born into and make a new life of freedom. It remains to be seen how it works out.
The allowances were payments from each living and they were expected to do the work of the Royals.
If I'm British, I would vote to dismantle the Monarchy after Queen Elizabeth II's death. I think that the institution is elitist and that it has no place in the 21st Century. I would leave all the castles in the property of the British Museum. Perhaps, they could hire the Royal Family as Innkeepers for visiting Tourists. You know that still generates a lot of $$$$.
Take look at my reply #47. Just my two cents from my point of view as an American Citizen. I recognize that the British may feel differently about the Royal Family than I do and it is up to them, not us.

The holder of the title of Regent does not have to be a relative or royal or even one person. It as been held by a Committee before.

Correct, which makes the premise of the headline misleading. They are not “Harry’s” military titles. The royal patronage titles belong to the monarch and are hers to gift. Mess with and flout any boss and company system and see what happens. Harry found out.
Interesting. I was not aware of the Regency Act 1937 and was going on what happened historically.
DM has an article that there are not enough working royals and some of the patronages may not be filled.
I think Prince Phillip is about to die given the visit Charles just did when visits arent allowed
Harry’s reception by the Brits when Phillip dies is going to be interesting.
Meghan Markle found out there is no title “Royal Trollop” and Harry found out “Royal Cuck” was already taken by his father, Prince Charles.
