Liberals (and more than a few conservatives) have been whining like babies about this one for nearly 30 years. Screw the Clintons, every last one of them. If Rush offended you with this, then you don’t have the stomach for political discourse, you are a hypocrite, or you are simply choosing to be offended. Chelsea was an ugly little girl; now she’s an ugly adult, inside and out. What else could Hillary and Bill (or Web) possibly spawn?

He did apologize. And the diff between Rush and any liberal is that Rush meant it.

He was reading from an in/out list (there were lots of them that came out right after the election). As rush read it, “in: cute kid in the white house” Then asked for a pic of chelsea, only to get a pic of the dog.

This was a MISTAKE. Evidently this was not planned. It was the cause of a behind the scenes tech crew guy. Its possible he did it on purpose, but if that was the case, he did it without Rush’s knowledge or permission.

I heard this was not the guys first on air mistake. It was more like his third and the show was only a couple months old. As i understand it, the guy was fired for this third incident and he went on to produce some short lived tv show.

We had some friends and he “had” a political career in mind, they were in their late thirties, early forties and decided to have a child and, trust me it was for optics only. The little thing was with babysitters all the time, and trotted her out only when there was a public event. Honestly, they treated her like a pet and that is the same thing I thought of with Chelsea and the Clintons. So possibly that was Rush’s point.

What is implied is that she is not cute.... or that the dog is more cute.
What everyone knows, intuitively, is that Chelsea is not an attractive child. It's really a cheap shot, in my opinion, and definitely worthy of an apology. It really wasn't even very funny.
But Rush didn't come close to calling her a dog. Not verbally, and not implicitly. He implied she was not cute.
