NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Dolly Parton is asking Tennessee lawmakers to withdraw a bill that would erect a statue of her on the Capitol grounds in Nashville.
“Given all that is going on in the world, I don’t think putting me on a pedestal is appropriate at this time,” Parton said in a statement issued Thursday.

The Dolly Parton statue may tip over in a stiff wind (forward of course).
I though that there was already something memorializing her. The Grand Tetons.
Good decision, Dolly. Some may not take kindly to anybody appearing to say that they are more important than the Rebel Flag. Best not to open that Pandora’s Box. Dolly has enough awards already.
It’d bounce right back up.
Boing!
I like Dolly but she’s probably right about the statue. She should get a school or something like that named after her.
Dolly has a statue in Sevierville; she might want to keep it just that one.
Nice that she has some standards.

Don’t blame her as statues which used to be permanent are now anything but. Just ask Kate Smith’s shade about hers!
The Free Republic Comics never fail to show up on these post, but on this one they right themselves. We know and Dolly knows the Fem and Trans Nazis will demand it be taken down as it gives a false impression of how Women should and must look!

I was introduced to her once backstage at Opryland. My Cousin said that was the only time she saw me blush.
But her bust is ok???
I didn't like the work she did with Jane Fonda. Ms. Parton was accommodatingly vague about her views of Fonda on the gun emplacement.
We used to call the San Onofre nuclear reactors near Camp Pendleton the “Dolly Parton Monument.” If you can see a picture of the two domed reactor structures next to I-5 you will see the resemblance.
Soon as they name a school for her, somebody will quote what someone heard her say in the seventh grade......cannot win today.
Probably couldn’t get enough bronze, anyway.
Beautiful song here by “The Trio” (Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris).
