In Puerto Rico we have a new governor. This one is a Democrat but so far seems much more reasonable than our previous “Republican” Governor.
He has relaxed the previous Governor’s EOs significantly. Almost fully open except for a midnight to 5:00 AM curfew, which he has said he wants to eliminate. Apparently the problem seems to be how to control the “After-Party” crowds which here is almost every night.
Our Covid hospitalizations are and remain the lowest they have been since the summer, and our death rate is still in the lowest 10 in the United States.
Our weather is lovely this time of the year, and over President’s Day weekend, our hotels had the best occupancy they’ve had since Spring Break was cancelled last year: over 85%.
To top it off, the new Governor declared a new state of emergency, but this time to mandate schools to OPEN.
Love your celebratory asterisk “fireworks’” around that BS number. Why are you here on FR? Just makes no sense. Democratic Underground is the place for you.

My boy talked with his financial advisor last week and emailed me this:
“We also talked about all of this covid crap, and what a smoke and mirrors job on the frightened sheep it’s been, and how useless masks are.
He mentioned that he’s got several clients in various health care fields, and most of them echo that same thought. I swear in less than ten years it’s going to come out that the Chinese unleashed this stuff from a lab either accidentally, or deliberately as a test. Also, we’ll find out that masks really didn’t do much of anything, if anything, at all.
To me, the whole thing has been an alarming insight into just how something like Nazi Germany got started. People say that it couldn’t happen here, but I’m not so sure given the way these liberals were able to terrify most people through the media. One of my wife’s brothers literally hides in the basement and won’t come out. Unreal.”
