Yuck!
But the real question is:
Does she/he/it/ze/xim/zer feel confident in it's chosen gender?

Self carnivorous Rapunzel is ruining the Rapunzel story.

I prescribe keeping her head shaved for several years. Even if it doesn’t cure her obsessions, it would save a lot of NHS funds on the surgeries.
To: Red Badger
We should not treat this. Instead we should make it so eating hair is considered normal and invest taxpayer $$$ for drop by clinics where hair eaters can stop by for a quick extraction.
Given how the body dysmorphia disorder is handled, this is eminently sensible.

Well, I don’t think it’s fair that this malady should be named after Rapunzel. I mean, she had long hair and all, but I don’t recall her eating it.
On a more ominous note, my cat was looking over my shoulder when I was looking at the picture and I thought I heard him mutter something like, “Challenge accepted!”

Being that she has mental health problems, she have identified herself as a cat.
Then she could have learned to cough up hairballs.

Hairballs are tough stuff. I remember the first time I pulled up the shower drain, even though there were only a very few hairs saddle back over the top. It looked like a muskrat hanging on.

She underwent surgery, and doctors removed the hair ball, which was so large it "formed a cast of the entire stomach," the authors said. My first thought was - how good it must feel to have that thing out of one’s stomach.

I feel bad for this girl. I hope she gets back to normal and grows her hair back (without eating it this time).
Girls should have long, luxuriant hair.

In the hospital ER I work in about a year and a half ago a kid in his early twenties was bought in under a ‘’stat’’ condition. That’s like Def Con 1. All hands on deck, so to speak.
He had attempted his own gender reassignment surgery by cutting his testicles off. Man. I never saw so much blood. The kids face was white as a sheet.
I over heard one of the nurses later on ask the ER doctor ‘’ Doctor whats wrong with people?’’
He thought for a moment and quietly said “Lots of things’’.
Boy he sure was right. People do some of the weirdest stuff.
