How to Avoid a Climate Disaster: The Solutions We Have and the Breakthroughs We Need (HaHa Alert)

In this urgent, authoritative book, Bill Gates sets out a wide-ranging, practical--and accessible--plan for how the world can get to zero greenhouse gas emissions in time to avoid a climate catastrophe.

Bill Gates has spent a decade investigating the causes and effects of climate change. With the help of experts in the fields of physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, political science, and finance, he has focused on what must be done in order to stop the planet's slide to certain environmental disaster. In this book, he not only explains why we need to work toward net-zero emissions of greenhouse gases, but also details what we need to do to achieve this profoundly important goal.

He gives us a clear-eyed description of the challenges we face. Drawing on his understanding of innovation and what it takes to get new ideas into the market, he describes the areas in which technology is already helping to reduce emissions, where and how the current technology can be made to function more effectively, where breakthrough technologies are needed, and who is working on these essential innovations. Finally, he lays out a concrete, practical plan for achieving the goal of zero emissions--suggesting not only policies that governments should adopt, but what we as individuals can do to keep our government, our employers, and ourselves accountable in this crucial enterprise.

As Bill Gates makes clear, achieving zero emissions will not be simple or easy to do, but if we follow the plan he sets out here, it is a goal firmly within our reach.

Bill could afford to build a spaceship, take a few of his best friends and leave this planet to go somewhere else and do it right the first time. If only we could be so lucky.

How about a program to develop Thorium power generation? Our cost of energy could use a good cut in price. Of course, they won’t do it because of the politicization.

Howzabout outlawing private jets? John Kerry, alone, dumped 650 metric tons of carbon into the atmosphere by his jet alone.

The idiot savant is spreading horse manure.

Like any run of the mill entrepreneur he’s asking you to pay for the spread.

The world has existed for how long?

The world has sustained life for all creatures great and small for how long?

The idea that the world suddenly will no longer sustain life for thousands of years more, is simply unbelievable.

Most especially since it must continue to sustain life in order for the Creator to return to his creation, as he and thousands and tens of thousands of his messengers have promised.

Call them what you will, but those pronouncing the demise of planet earth, before it’s Creator makes the pronouncement are nothing more than false prophets.

I sincerely hope that Mr. Gates has nuclear and hydro in his toolbox of solving Global Warming, or else I doubt that he can be taken seriously.

Well since there is no global warming, I don’t give a #### what he has. It’s not needed. Plenty of oil in the ground.

I’m freezing my ASSets off in NYC. Another possible 8 inches of snow coming thursday.

And that’s why they changed it to “global climate changes” the warming bull#### wasn’t working out too well

That idiot savant had nothing to do with writing the software other than writing the check for $10,000 for DOS. Just like Jobs had nothing to do with anything at Apple other than he was a great marketer and influencer. Neither of them invented anything at their respective companies.

IF I WERE A RICH MAN:

The most important men in town would come to fawn on me!
They would ask me to advise them,
Like a Solomon the Wise.
“If you please, Reb Tevye...”
“Pardon me, Reb Tevye...”
Posing problems that would cross a rabbi’s eyes!
And it won’t make one bit of difference if i answer right or wrong.
When you’re rich, they think you really know!

* The idiot savant should have stuck with software.*

On old proverb goes: A software developer learns more and more about less and less until he knows absolutely everything about nothing".

Where in the book does he explain that to achieve his zero carbon goal the population of the Earth must be reduced by 90%?

Follow his money.

Carbon dioxide comprises .04% of the total gases in the atmosphere. During the Carboniferous period millions of years ago the carbon dioxide amount was around 20%. And there is evidence that there were glaciers in places. Was Bill Gates aware of the SCIENCE?
