An Atlantic depression left many parts of Germany with icy roads and weather warnings on Monday. Forecasters say this particularly cold winter period is almost over.

The Kachelmann weather service recorded this season’s lowest temperature in the village of Kühnhaide, on the German-Czech border, Sunday night.

The record low of –28.9 degrees Celsius (–20°F) is unofficial, as it was not picked up by the German Meteorological Service (DWD), whose network does not cover the village.

The Kachelmann weather service announced the temperature on Twitter, reporting: “The cold depression last night, again in the east with some –20s. In Marienberg–Kühnhaide in the Erz mountains, it was at least –29 degrees, the coldest night this winter.”

The DWD recorded its lowest temperature for the current winter season on February 10, when the temperature dropped to –26.7 degrees (–16.06°F) in Mühlhausen–Görmar in the eastern state of Thuringia. …

It got to -20 here in Minneapolis. I felt chilled as I went to bed, but didn’t think anything of it. I got up at 6 and did my thing. At 9:30 I felt chilled. The heat in my building went out yesterday!

My shamrock plant was acting weird. No matter where I placed it, it “fainted”. Finally I put a towel around the pot and “Patrick” perked right up. If I cant tell it’s cold, I should heed the shamrocks, they are fussy.

“I’m just thankful that the sun is out and the wind isn’t blowing.”

Tomorrow at noon we’ll break into above zero territory.
I can’t wait.

Going up 50° just to reach 20° F is just wrong.

On so many levels.

Today’s weather has been very interesting in Alabama.

Here in Northern Alabama, we woke up to a heavy cold rain/ sleet combined with thunder and lightning.

My Blue Heeler panicked and hid in his storm cellar: The closet in our computer room. He is beyond terrified of thunder and lightning.

Now, the rain has changed to pure ice and neighboring counties are losing power. Tonight our temperature is predicted to be eight degrees, but it will feel like five to ten degrees below zero.

I worry about our outside dog. She suffered neglect and abuse from her previous owner and is too paranoid to come inside our home, no matter how hard we beg. She has long, thick hair, but I don’t know if that will help her. She usually sleeps on our covered back porch.

Meanwhile, in South Alabama, they are under a tornado watch and could experience some serious tornadoes.

I HATE ice storms.

Of course! manmade glow-ball warning causes everything to cool down! Just like ‘sheltering in place’ because of the CCP-Coronavirus for two weeks will ‘flatten the curve’, so we can ‘return to normal’ in a few years! Of course, this is after the socialist, bureaucratic ‘braintrust’ has destroyed almost the whole worldwide economy (except, of course, their financiers, the ChiComs). All lies, all the time!

Just look at the communist ‘braintrust’ in Montreal! In December 2020, they shut most everything down, imposing a curfew, because the hospital ICUs might soon be ‘overrun’ with CCP-Coronavirus. Now, the numbers have dropped (like everywhere else). Instead of dropping the curfew, they’ve extended it BECAUSE it is working! The statists are winning in Kanadahar! Of course, the corrupt Quebec politicians (but are there any other kind of Quebec pols?) buy into ‘manmade glow-ball warning, and refuse to allow another oil pipeline from AB to QU. They would prefer instead, to IMPORT oil and gas from Saudi Arabia, Venezuela and other such ‘reputable’ countries, rather than buying Canadian. In Kanadahar, ‘Pretzel Logic’ is more than just a Steely Dan album!

The only Province where there appears to be ANY common sense, is Alberta, where CCP-Coronavirus restrictions have been somewhat lifted.

I keep believing that this cold is a result of the lack of sunspots during 2020. Maybe we have a mini-Maunder minimum. The spots are still missing so maybe next winter will be super cold as well.

On any given winter day [or not] check the weather conditions on the Summit.

Makes me glad to see these conditions are about 80 miles east of us.

Global warming actually causes the climate to become cooler over time. I know, it’s confusing.
