As AstraZeneca shots are rolling out to European Union nations this month, joining the Pfizer and Moderna doses already available, some people are balking at being offered a vaccine that they perceive — fairly or not — as second-best.
...Several European nations have recommended the drug only for people under 65, and other countries have recommended it for those under 55, because AstraZeneca’s trials included a relatively small number of older people.
The World Health Organization says the AstraZeneca vaccine is about 63% effective at preventing symptomatic COVID-19 after two doses. That’s less than the 95% effectiveness reported by Pfizer and Moderna but experts caution against such comparisons as the studies were done at different times and under different conditions. Furthermore, all have proven extremely effective at preventing serious illness and death.

nice condescension there sugar cakes. Destroys any point you might have been trying to make.
All true. For healthy people in working age group, this disease is not much worse than regular flu. But China used this bio-weapon successfully to get rid of PDJT who placed tariffs on Chinese imports in attempt to reduce trade deficits.
The biggest beneficiary is China from covid-19. Biden will be lucky to stay functioning in office for 2 years.
Which one does Fauci make the most off of?
That’s the impression we get, too. All medications, vaccinations have some risk. I’ll take a vaccine that uses the time- tested biomechanism. Let anyone else wishing to get injected with the vaccines employing the new mRNA business. That stuff might prove out just fine. But I’ll still stick to a regular vaccine for now. In a few years we will find out if the new mRNA mechanism stuff proves to be safe.
First I am already vaccinated
Second you state there is no long term research which prevents you from considering it and then with certainty state the long term side effects which are nonexistent by your argument as they have not been tested long term
You attempt to occupy a mutually exclusive position
This is my primary argument with people who are vociferously against this vaccine.
And finally there are lots of things that were approved for the first tome by humans. From airplanes to toilet paper to every technological advance and yet we pick this one to grouse about?
No doubt someone, somewhere said those new fandangled penicillin pills are too risky. But it did cure disease.
Same thing here
You have to look carefully at the results, not just the headlines, before you make a blanket statement that the J&J vaccines far less effective. You have to look at both the mortality and the morbidity data. It’s very effective in reducing the severity of the cases and keeping people out of the hospital and off of a ventilator. In their trials it had 100% protection against severe disease which is what is most important, especially for elderly or compromized patients.
I’d like to be choosy, and wait for J and J’s one-shot shot, but in my area, Moderna and Pfizer roll-out is spotty and ‘fully booked’ even before announcements that enrollment was open. So I may get J and J anyway, not because I’m being choosy, but because it’s the last one rolled out and all that’s left.
Not genetic manipulation, but new protein manipulation (specifically, S-protein production and subsequent immune response). Not the same s***t, as one may assume... The material being injected has nothing to do with “genetic method” and doesn’t influence the genetic material of a human cell in any way. It is simply tells human cells to make small amounts of viral S-protein which, in turn, is recognized by the immune system producing antibodies against the virus.
Prophylactic treatments could be as effective at preventing serious illness and death if administered properly in a timely manner.
But nooooo, that’s too easy and takes away any opportunity to control the masses.
Depends on how old you are, your sex and if you are a POC:
