I love grilled cheese sandwiches. I can vary from 2 pieces of white Publix bread and two slices of processed cheese (cost? about 40 cents) to hand sliced Ciabatta w/ Gruyere.
Either way, you know it’s going to be a tasty treat.
Like the parmesan twist and will try it next time.
Since becoming lactose intolerant a beautiful sandwich like this makes me tear up a little.
I really miss cheese....
And cream of tomato soup.

gotta have a thin slice of Swiss cheese with the American- to give it a little better flavor IMO
Down here in FL we have a restaurant (2) that I know of called The Grilled Cheese Gallery” they sell every imaginable kind of grilled cheese.
One is in Port St. Lucie and the other is in St. Augustine.
Been to the later, they give you a side of tomato soup for dipping.
My fav: Cheddar + Bacon + Rye
I will probably do this for lunch tomorrow for my bride and me.
She prepares breakfast and most dinners, and I do lunches.
I added precooked tomato and onion slices to the middle of my sandwich which has 3 slices of cheese. I suppose adding bacon bits would make my pallet go nuts.
Not bad for a chain. Five cheeses.
And yes, they do grill the thing with parmesan on the outside.

Definitely works in a pinch.
Once you go grilled pimento cheese with bacon,
you will never go back.

My personal preference is to use hands. Using your feet, well you could burn them or knock the bowl over, or get dreaded sweat sock taste.
i mix cheddar, swiss and mozzarella in our grilled cheese sandwiches.
I will try the crispy crust next time though.
Or American cheese on wonder bread fried in butter.
It is all grilled cheese to me.
And so YUMMY!
And it all goes with creamy tomato soup.

One of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I’ve ever eaten was from a hole-in-the-wall eatery in Narita (Tokyo) airport.
I asked the chef what he did to make it so delicious, and the secret was spreading some cream cheese inside, along with the primary cheese.
Now cream cheese is mandatory in my grilled cheese sandwiches.
The bowling alley made me these big grilled cheeses with rye and Swiss. Yum!
Butter, smoked gouda, and rye for me.
