Just watched “The Man Who Would be King” yesterday. Unbelievably fantastic movie, solid work from Plummer in a small but important role.

“Sound of Music” comes immediately to mind, but he was in a lot of amazing films.

He worked to the end. Maybe being in character made him feel more alive. Kept all his faculties too. as they say.

Wow!! I was just thinking of him and Max von Sydow the other day. von Sydow died last year. God rest your soul Mr. Plummer, and thank you for all the wonderful acting you shared with us on the silver screen. He was working right up until his death.

The last two pictures I saw Christopher Plummer in was "The Exception" from 2016. He played Kaiser Wilhelm II in that one. The second one was from 2015, called "Remember." That movie was excellent. Martin Landau was in it as well. I highly recommend it. There is a twist at the end. The synopsis from IMDb is:

"With the aid of a fellow Auschwitz survivor and a hand-written letter, an elderly man with dementia goes in search of the person he believes to be responsible for the death of his family in the death camp to kill him himself."

If you all want to see a very off beat role for him, brilliantly done, see Silent Partner from 1978. He is wicked on a stick in the thing. Brilliant performance.

Now he can replace Kevin Spacey’s dead career.

RIP

My wife recently started singing Edelweiss to our son before bed. I know Plummer was dubbed over and that he hated that role, but to have leave such an impression over so many decades in so many different films is quite a legacy.
