During her remarks to colleagues at last night’s closed-door GOP House conference meeting, Liz Cheney defended her vote to impeach Trump over the January 6 Capitol riot and also said “we cannot become the party of QAnon,” referring to the deranged conspiracy theory that Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia has promoted in recent years.
“I owe you the truth, I owe my constituents the truth, you owe us the truth, we all owe each other that, and the truth is: We cannot become the party of QAnon, we cannot become the party of Holocaust denial, we cannot become the party of white supremacy,” Cheney said, according to a source in the meeting.

Why are they portraying followers as terrorists when the marching orders were to “hold the line” and not to engage in violent rebellion?

She voted for the impeachment of Donald Trump. That has nothing whatever to do with Trump. Trump did criticise Liz Cheney’s father and that is the main reason.

People fall into all sorts of erroneous belief. Even you. You'll never destroy that, it's part of human nature.
As for being about "patriotism," I view that as a meaningless label. Everybody claims it, just like everybody who takes an oath swears they are following it. Obviously not true, can't be true for all of them, yet all of them claim it.
The GOP is not stupid as a party, it is a powerful globalist political force. The Yin part of the ying/yang that both sides pass off as "self government" -- and patriotic.
Qanon board looks much like FR board. Diversity of thought, etc. Tends to conservative. By FR board, I mean content EXCEPT the Q content.

First of all, everything you post or say via an electronic device is monitored.
The .gov knows just how much potential unrest is out there. Did you see the post about a former CIA guy saying that “We need a war on terror against the radical right!”?
The biggest threat to the people in power is the alternative structure loosely known as the “right”. For a few decades, the left has taken over institution after institution. From the schools to the churches. They had assumed that it was all done, Gramsci’s long march was over, and it was time to lock the chains and move on to the next phase.
Trump blew that up. Suddenly a group of outsiders didn't just become a threat, they took over the Executive branch. Then when Jan. 6th happened, the realization hit that it wasn't just Trump, but the seat of power could be attacked by outsiders.
There is a reason Washington state is in open revolt in places, and that never hits the news, but some high school hi-jinks in the capital is viewed as an attempted coup. The elite could care less if downtown Seattle becomes North Tijuana, but messing with the seats of power is close enough to be real. A mass of people that the elites forgot existed just “stole” the election and cratered one half of the ruling class. THAT is a threat. Not Q.
That has little to do with Q. Q is a long hanging target, since it is on unmoderated boards that attract all sorts of people. From flat earthers, to holocaust deniers, to missing time people. By smearing Q as a hate crime, you can grab a bunch of the people you are worried about. I expect places much more mild like FR to be targeted next.
Go look at Q’s predictions. Again, it has been “BIG THING COMING IN THE WEEKS AHEAD” for YEARS. Nothing happened. Right up to the inauguration of Biden, there was prophecies that make Nostradamus look clear that Trump would stage a coup, win a court case, or pull some sort of rabbit out the hat to overturn the election.
Simply put, in the Old Testament the penalty for false prophecy was death by stoning. Q is a false prophet.
