A South African couple had to rule out a morning swim after they spotted a crocodile taking a dip in their pool. Angel and Jaco Breytenbach from the country's North West Province were checking their security cameras on January 29 before letting their pets out of the house – and it's a good thing they did.
The cameras captured a croc sitting comfortably beneath the surface of their backyard swimming pool.
The non-profit Wild Heart Wildlife Foundation was called in to help retrieve the predator.
They posted a video on social media showing the rescue, with people crowded around the edge of the pool.
After some thrashing about, the croc was hauled out of the pool with its jaws roped shut.
It proceeded to roll on the grass in an effort to escape its bonds, before coming to a stop and having a blanket tossed over its head.
"Various animals have been displaced and shown up in strange places due to the heavy rains brought in by Cyclone Eloise," the foundation wrote on Facebook. "It is believed that this crocodile came from a nearby river."
The crocodile has now been taken to a safe location and examined by the Department of Nature Conservation.
“The crocodile has been taken to a safe location”
The shoe store?
That guy in the photo must have been hired as bait.
What self-respecting croc wouldn’t want \that\ morsel for dinner?
Now, they have to drain and bleach the pool.
No swimming today.
“Morsel” was the word that came to mind when I saw the photo. Crocs can move pretty fast. That guy’s an idiot.
Great. The jaws are closed, but the tail could break your leg.
they need a fence around the pool -— with lots of barbed wire. Can you electrify only one side of a wire fence???
Yes, you just use one wire instead of two.

“Yes, you just use one wire instead of two.”
I’m that case, you would have to use DC current instead of AC. You can get away with one wire because DC current only goes one way. AC requires two wires because it’s alternating back and forth. Most people don’t realize that.
:: Crocs can move pretty fast. ::
Relative to that guy?
Warp speed.
The crocodile ate your dingo who ate your baby.
I’d have a new set of luggage before waiting around for a rescue group.
I'd drain and Clorox the whole pool, build a tall croc-proof fence, and sell the croc for its skin and meat to finance part of it.
remember to check the pool for crocs before diving in...
another reason not to live in florida.
‘Great bit in Reno 911 The Movie.
