* Johnson & Johnson's COVID-19 vaccine was shown to be 66% effective at preventing mild and moderate infections, and 85% effective at preventing severe disease, in trial results the company announced on Friday.
* It doesn't appear to be as effective as Moderna or Pfizer's mRNA vaccines, though there are big differences in how the shots were tested.
* It also has the benefits of being cheap and relatively easy to manufacture and distribute. It only requires one shot in the arm.
An experimental coronavirus vaccine from Johnson & Johnson is 66% effective at preventing moderate to severe COVID-19, according to new trial data the company released on Friday.
At first glance, the vaccine doesn't appear to be as stellar as authorized vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna, but it does have a few perks.
First and foremost: J&J's vaccine is just one shot in the arm, while both Pfizer and Moderna's are administered as 2 doses, given several weeks apart. Second, it can be refrigerated for months, making transportation and storage far less of a challenge. Third, it is cheaper and easier to produce.
"Our goal all along has been to create a simple, effective solution for the largest number of people possible, and to have maximum impact to help end the pandemic," Johnson & Johnson Chief Executive Officer Alex Gorsky said in a statement when his company's results were released.
During a call Friday morning at the National Institutes of Health, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the US' top infectious disease expert, stressed the importance of adding "yet another platform, another candidate into the mix in our global efforts against this extraordinary pandemic."
"This has really important domestic and global public health implications," Fauci said of the J&J vaccine, noting that "it is one shot,"

I’ watching all vaccines with my very good friend who recently retired as a pharmaceutical company exec specializing in pharmaceutical meds for lungs. She got her degree in pharmacy from some xlnt school back East.
She is worried about vaccines currently used because they require two doses and need to be stored at 31 degrees below zero. Also because the supplies might run out before second doses administered. She says she’ll wait until April or May to decide.
I sent her a different article on Johnson and Johnson’s single dose that does not require rigid below-zero temps. Time mag article she and I found very very impressive:

Well the J&J one actually contains fetal DNA. The others just use dead babies for testing
Be sure you get your second dose on time. Hope it is available in your location.
What happens if an individual takes more than one course of inoculations, especially different formulations?
RE: Thanks - do you have link for that?
Yes. Here it is:
@ post 18
Thanks for posting that and you are right..... we should all remember John Edwards.
29 million is NOTHING to these corporations or for a product liability lawsuit. NOTHING. Legal fees might total that and more.
Where are the vaccines for the common [coronavirus] cold?
J&J uses aborted fetal cells:

RE: What happens if an individual takes more than one course of inoculations, especially different formulations?
This article seems to address that question:
TITLE: Covid Q&A: Can I Mix Pfizer and Moderna Vaccines?
“...knowing asbestos was in their baby powder...”
It’s not the talc dust?
These vaccines are experimental and investigational. Thankfully, I don’t take vaccines anymore, since antiviral therapeutics like high dose vitamin C are so effective, along with A, D3, B1, chelated zinc and iodine. Best to stay away from the ICU, where the system will stick you on a ventilator, and leave you to die.
Case in point: a hospital near me is in the process of murdering yet another CV19 patient. The family wants to give grampa the MATH+ protocol. Hospital is refusing, and they won’t release the patient to another hospital here in Houston who will give it to him.
“You would expect a placebo to be nothing, but you would be very wrong”
Yep. At least with some other vaccines, the placebo was some combination of adjuvant plus other ingredients OR maybe another “safe” vaccine. Pharma and conventional medicine are so incredibly dishonest.
Mucho Gracias for the link [We will be overrun under Kamel-la...].
“We would like to have data rather than use judgment.”
Does the CDC even believe this process? Fauxcy? ;-)

What I want to know is the potential for allergic reactions or cytokine storms of the J&J vaccine verses the Phizer or Moderna vaccines.
Is J&J an mdna vaccine too or a different technology?
Sure but I don’t live in Africa. For civilized countries the other two have a head start plus are much more effective.
OMG, nothing is safe. I’ll have to look into this.
Actually, I never get vaccines—and tho in the supposedly high-risk group, never get sick. I take all the supplements known to keep your immune system strong and have every morning for the last 40+ years. Health of my tissues proved last week when I had a huge molar pulled. Had a long list of things to do from my dentist, picked up pain pills from pharmacy—and after novocain wore off, I had absolutely zero pain. I didn’t need a single pain pill.
My doc does not push pharmaceuticals, literally prescribes 8 nutritional supplements per day. He did not go to med school in America, where they are all funded by BigPharma, so he’s not prejudiced against PREVENTION. I think I’ll just rely on my very strong immune system to avoid ‘THE VIRUS.”
Where are the vaccines for the common [coronavirus] cold?
Nowhere..... not enough money in it and no media panic either.
While the jury is still out on how/why this vaccination stuff will be effective, you have to tip your hat to Operation Warp Speed. It was a very impressive accomplishment.
I read an article about a family sneaking it in but the article said they wouldnt reveal the details on how it happened.
I am having a reaction from just a regular vaccine.....or I caught covid while getting the vaccine as ear ringing can be a sign of covid.
I am going to have to go to a DR to figure out what the heck is going on.
