After weeks of being limited to takeout and delivery, struggling restaurants in Los Angeles were allowed to reopen for outdoor dining Friday with new restrictions in place.
Restaurants must require employees to wear a face mask and shield, tables must be eight feet apart and seat no more than six people, and televisions are not allowed to be turned on.
"Televisions or any other screens that are used to broadcast programming must be removed from the area or turned off," the order from the Los Angeles Department of Public Health says. "This provision is effective until further notice."
This no-TVs edict is likely in place to prevent people from gathering at restaurants to watch the Super Bowl next week.
"We really do need to be cautious as we move forward, given we have a major sporting event. We’ve seen lots of people together shouting, yelling, screaming during the excitement of a game," Health Officer Dr. Muntu Davis said this week about the Super Bowl, according to the Los Feliz Register. "This should be a virtual get-together, just like many of you celebrated the holidays with just your immediate family present."

Can you see the ball on a teeny little cell phone?
Who cares about the SB anyway. Bunch of kneeling drugged up felons.
I knew it all along!!!!
TV’s were the cause of the virus. I saw the virus coming out of MY TV during the early broadcasts from China. BUT I was ready with my tin foil hat and suit.
#metoo. If there's a TV in a doctor's waiting room, I move to the far side of the room. I used to carry a little stealth universal remote on my key ring that I could use to turn off a restaurant or waiting room TV.
Every phone these days can be used to stream programming. Would they be considered a Television set? Would a tablet, which can just as easily display a book as a video be considered a television? Many of these covid precautions seem to be designed to make life as unpleasant as possible
We know TVs can spread BS, so they must be able to spread the China Virus as well.

Holy Smoke - tell us that’s not true!!
I guess you’ve never been in, say, an Applebees or a sports bar during a local college game (assuming the local team record is not something like 1-10). Much less the Super Bowl. If the patrons are not too rowdy, it can be an enjoyable atmosphere.
Now, I will grant you I never went to a bar or restaurant specifically to watch a game. But I used to do installation /maintenance / service work for such, and you just know Murphy’s Law dictates breakdowns at such times.
Once the work was done, if the game was still on and the patrons were not too rowdy, the crowd spirit could be an enjoyable atmosphere. Each to their own, I guess.
The unfortunate thing with this “no TV” directive is that on what should be a great business day for these establishments, I suspect they may as well not even open.
Heh. A little repetitive there, Paul. (Rolls eyes)
I was listening to Conservative morning AM radio in Chicago this morning and a guest talked about his group of resisters against the Illinois Governor’s lock down of Illinois restaurants. His group is ‘REBEL DINERS’.
Each week, more and more diners join his group and have dinners at restaurants that are struggling with all of the restrictions. 👍 🇺🇸 He is encouraging people to form similar groups nationwide.
ABOUT
REBEL DINERS
The Illinois Governor announced on October 20th, 2020 that a new round of stronger restrictions going into place that Friday. All six counties surrounding Chicago will not allow indoor dining.
Immediately a number of restaurants took to social media saying they can’t afford to do that and will defy the order.
That Friday Chuck, Matt and Tom met at a pizza place defying the order and discussed a way forward. “If these independent small businesses will defy the order for their livelihood, then we too must defy and support them”, and Rebel Diners was born. That weekend they began to reach out to their network and scheduled the 1st Rebel Diner lunch at one of the 1st restaurants to come out in defiance that following Tuesday.
12 diners joined together for a delicious meal and toasted the owner and his son. The owner was in tears thanking the Rebel Diners for their support. In addition, the diners left a tip for the server in excess of $400, and he too so humbly and graciously thanked each diner for their support.
The following week 21 Rebel Diners descended upon an establishment and positively impacted the owner and their staff.
The Rebel Diners have grown to 48 participants and continue weekly missions to help support the small business restaurateur.
