I guess you’ve never been in, say, an Applebees or a sports bar during a local college game (assuming the local team record is not something like 1-10). Much less the Super Bowl. If the patrons are not too rowdy, it can be an enjoyable atmosphere.

Now, I will grant you I never went to a bar or restaurant specifically to watch a game. But I used to do installation /maintenance / service work for such, and you just know Murphy’s Law dictates breakdowns at such times.

Once the work was done, if the game was still on and the patrons were not too rowdy, the crowd spirit could be an enjoyable atmosphere. Each to their own, I guess.

The unfortunate thing with this “no TV” directive is that on what should be a great business day for these establishments, I suspect they may as well not even open.
