As Robert Mueller was ramping up his Russia collusion probe in spring 2017, then-acting Director Andrew McCabe was summoned to the Justice Department for a high-level Sunday morning meeting led by then-Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

McCabe showed up thinking it was a "coordination and logistics issues" meeting for the new special counsel probe, but soon he found he himself was to be the subject of discussion, according to newly declassified notes that McCabe recorded of the gathering.

Rosenstein wanted McCabe to recuse himself as FBI director from the Russia probe because McCabe's wife had run for office in 2015 in Virginia as a Democrat and had accepted financial help from longtime Hillary Clinton ally and Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, the notes show.

So how does this jive with Lin Wood’s whistleblower who says that Rosenstein was part of a dirty tricks group that was intent to get rid of Trump and installing themselves in the White House? If he were part of that scheme why would he care about McCabe’s apparent conflict of interest since McCabe was essentially on his team?

Similarly, when the questions of potential conflicts surrounding McCabe's wife's campaign intensified, GOP Virginia House Delegate David Ramadan texted McCabe's FBI cell phone with a supportive message.

"I heard the news... I'm sorry that the ugly head of today's politics is now after you... I hope this tin foil conspiracy crap will pass soon. Hang in there, and thank you for your continued service to our beloved country," Ramadan texted McCabe.

There has been no greater disappointment to me as an American than watching the deep state conduct a coup on the Trump administration and have at least half of the public not know about it, or understand it. This development is historically tragic and bespeaks of a fundamental devolution of the ability of our fellow citizens to think critically.

The biggest culprit in this cultural suicide has been the so-called “free press” & the rise of our corrupt social media. IMO it is going to be almost impossible to reverse this mess short of some kind of civic enlightenment...

“ There has been no greater disappointment to me as an American than watching the deep state conduct a coup on the Trump administration and have at least half of the public not know about it, or understand it”

The nation went through a similar period after the Civil War. Lincoln wanted to reintegrate the south into the union — “With malice toward none and charity for all.” Lincoln was a strong leader and might have prevailed against the radical majority in his own party who favored a policy of punishment, subjugation, political neutering, and restitution. Lincoln was assassinated, and his VP successor Andrew Johnson, tried to generally follow Lincoln’s desired path for reintegration of the Confederate states. He was a weaker leader and lacked the support of the Republican Party radicals in Congress who impeached him but were unable to convict him in the Senate trial. However they, allied with a vicious, radical press, were able to neuter Johnson as president and drive him from political life.

Johnson was forced from politics by the radicals who successfully ran a ticket with war hero Ulysses S. Grant as president and Schuyler Colfax as VP. Colfax had been a founder of the Republican Party and served as Speaker of the House in Congress from 1863 to 1869 when he became VP. Colfax was pure establishment, a corrupt and tyrannical leader of the radical Republicans determined to punish the South and its people.

During his term as Vice President a newspaper implicated Schuyler in a scandal involving payments to politicians, A Congressional investigation showed Schuyler was on the take while serving as House Speaker, However the Republicans controlling Congress declined to impeach him for accepting bribes. He retired from politics after a single tour as VP and became a popular public speaker and successful businessman.

A footnote, The night Lincoln was assassinated, other assassins involved with John Wikes Booth were supposed to kill VP Andrew Jackson but chickened out. If Jackson had also been killed Schuyler Colfax, as House Speaker, would have become President. Colfax and the radical Republicans would have enjoyed complete power over the e ecutive and legislative branches of the federal government. They would have crashed the defeated southern states with vengeance and cruelty. Could the assassination plot against Lincoln and Johnson been a deep state conspiracy? If the corrupt, ruthless and vindictive Schuyler Colfax had become President of a nation governed under one party control, would he have prevented the southern states from rejoining the union, thereby eliminating any potential political opposition? He could have been the first president elected for more than two terms and potentially for life as there was no Constitutional term limit at the time.

Why don’t we know about Schuyler Colfax? The victors write history and his corruption doesn’t fit the story progressive schools want the people to know.

The Republic survived Schuyler Colfax, one party domination of politics, impeachment, a Civil War, the Lincoln presidential assassination, and the ugly Reconstruction period that fostered one party Democrat party rule a d racial segregation in the southern states for decades. Had Lincoln lived to serve a full second term, he might have blunted the passions of the radical Republicans and channeled resources into integrating the destitute newly freed slaves into a rebuilding economy.
