Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) is developing one of the most closely watched Covid-19 vaccines, considering that it is a single-dose shot that should be relatively easy to distribute. Here’s a quick rundown on the recent developments for the vaccine. Based on data from the phase 1/2 trials of 805 participants, published on Wednesday, the vaccine generated a long-lasting immune response with 90% of participants generating neutralizing antibodies against the Coronavirus.
Based on these early-stage findings the company expects the vaccine to be more than 70% effective, noting that efficacy could reach “very high levels”. For perspective, the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, which are being rolled out in the U.S. are over 90% effective. More conclusive efficacy data from J&J’s phase 3 study which has 45,000 volunteers is expected in the coming weeks with the company likely to proceed with emergency approval if the results are favorable.
Separately, there have been reports that the company is seeing some manufacturing delays for the vaccine. While J&J was expected to deliver 12 million doses by the end of February and 100 million by the end of June, it has reportedly fallen behind these goals by as much as two months. [2] As of last September, the company said that it had plans to deliver over a billion doses by the end of 2021.

Why?
I’ve had both doses of the Moderna vaccine. Wife has had one. Aunt and uncle have both had 1. We’re all fine but I was reading about the Cutter Incident during the Polio vaccine roll out so anything can happen I suppose. So far so good though. Hopefully we don’t have anything like that.
I am not getting a COVID vaccine or even getting tested for such.
I’ll probably take this one. Not the moderna or Pfizer because they use a new technology.
When I see one of those hippy dippy all is well if you take this drug commercials I wonder how long before we see the ad from the class action suit over the damage caused by the drug.
RE: I’ll probably take this one.
Early reports do not show that its effectiveness matches those of Pfizer’s or Moderna’s.
I don’t know. I have two blown out disks rubbing against a nerve root. When I cough or sneeze, it about brings me to tears. Covid would kill me, I’m sure of it so I took my chances with the vaccine and, like I said, so far so good. but YMMV.
70% is still good
You always just have to weigh the risks for your own particular situation
For example, if I didnt have the luxury of working from home and had to work in the public every day my view on a vaccine would be different since I Have risk factors.
The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is one of the “uses aborted baby/fetal cells” vaccines...a problem for a lot of people:

That new technology makes me nervous, too. I saw a disturbing interview with a doctor about it. What technology does Johnson and Johnson use? Like normal flu vaccines?
90% efficacy and 99.7% survival rate are pretty strong numbers.
Plus, normal temps and one jab....they will be lining people up and jabbing them by the millions.
The Johnson & Johnson vaccine candidate is made from a cold virus, called an adenovirus, that’s modified to make copies of the coronavirus’ spike protein, which the pathogen uses to enter cells. Although the altered virus can’t replicate in humans, it induces an immune response that prepares the body for an actual coronavirus infection.
The people for whom it is a problem should reject it, then.
But I’m not a fan of objecting to all vaccines because some are made this way.
RE: 90% efficacy and 99.7% survival rate are pretty strong numbers.
Those numbers are for Moderna and Pfizer, not for J&J’s vaccine, which at this time, just shows a little over 70% efficacy.
Well, good luck to you.
Many of us have to be routinely tested, at least, to continue with our livelihoods every day.
Do you suppose that we should all reject testing and vaccines on principle? And what principle is that?
I am sure they will. But you can also still be anti-abortion in general...with your logic it would be “...just don’t get an abortion if you don’t agree with them”.
I don’t get your meaning. Please explain.
If someone is opposed to abortion and any/all of its ‘products’, they should refuse in general. Seems simple.
