Here's something meaningful to do that is also prudent if you haven't already done it. Reallocate to capital preservation or move to cash all the money in your 401Ks and IRAs. The next 30 days are going to be volatile, so sitting your money on the sidelines is not particularly rash. If every Trump voter did this, it would send a very powerful message as well as pruning some power from the incoming overlords.
Our own BDS movement.
Let’s do it.
Given that 30% of all dollars printed were printed in 2020 and Biden plans to double that number i will not be in cash. Better to own things than to hold worthless paper.
If you’re sitting on a pile of cash you are more heavily invested in the ruling government than anyone else. You might want to think this through before you post zany ideas.
We need to build an alternative structure where we pay or taxes to a maga account and we only allocate from that money for necessary expenditures.
Irs can’t go after 70 million people or more. The ones they go after get the money from the maga fund to pay if needed to avoid trouble.
And in that, must gies directly to the entit, eg contractor, not through congress.
This will take a year or more. It is a long term fight.
Starving them of money is the best way to hurt them.
Or you can short the dollar. I have been doing this over the past couple of months.
I’d rather see a total “Economic Boycott” happen, especially over any other act of civil disobedience. At least for 30 or 60 days. It’s legal, and completely anonymous if you don’t want anyone to know you’re participating (in not participating). You won’t go to jail, lose your job, or be bankrupted by the IRS (for a tax boycott).
Besides, how many corporations are now telling us they don’t want our money — or sell our products — if we’re conservatives? It’s time we take them at their word, and keep our money for ourselves. Make them work AND beg for it.
If we could get the majority of Trump voters to participate it would have a profound impact on the economy and the government.
BMP for later
We still have the right to spend our money how, when and where we want to. You’re right, those can be powerful and influential decisions.
The Left does it. So can we.
Investment decisions and political decisions should not mix. However, I get the point. We now live in enemy occupied America and we should engage in any and all peaceful methods of undermining the new regime.
The value of the things you own are based on the worthless paper. So far.
I would rather earn 3% than lose 20%. I did this in 2008 just before the crash. I lost nothing in that crash. I plan to do this Friday.
BOOKbump
You did note “capital preservation” right? There are a lot of ways to do that. The main point is to get out of the market.. i.e. defunding the massive corporations that make up our new oligarchy.
Good point on cash though - in the long term getting out of cash and into real commodities is a good move, as well as the strategies others have noted here. In the short term (1-2 months) moving to cash won’t hurt you too much I think..
These massive corporations are going to do very well in the next couple of years. They own the government, so why wouldn’t they?
By all means, keep your $ in the markets for the Oligarch’s to enjoy. They want your retirement account nice and fat for when they nationalize it, too.
I’m a little smarter than that. I’ve done very well over the years by investing methodically and avoiding some of the idiotic reflexive investment decisions I see parroted by people on this website all the time.
Cash is not necessarily a good “capital preservation” vehicle. The value of your assets are going to erode with inflation if you sit on your cash for very long.
In addition to divestiture (or going into a gold fund of some sort as an inflation hedge) - there are other options that are pretty easy and very effective if a few million households do it:
1. Buy store brand, not name brand (i.e. house cola instead of Coca-Cola)
2. Find it on Amazon, buy it from a local or non-Amazon seller
3. Boycott Whole Foods entirely
4. Buy used items, not new
5. Spend the next 90 days buying nothing other than food & necessities - no durable goods like washer/dryers unless to replace broken ones.
6. Local family-owned restaurants, not chains
Move the funds from your 401k & IRA to your bank account, and get socked with taxes?
And the Oligarchs appreciate that most people will still participate in their corrupt system due to short-term self-interest. Same calculus used by McConnell and the RINOs - they assume they are the only game in town and that you’ll “hold your nose” yet again in 2022.
We need to stop that - the old way is not working.
