Blah, blah blah. Well I will divulge. For whatever reason you chickened out.
Conservative publishers often run shoestring operations.
Apparently at American “Thinker”, you’re only allowed to “think” silently. Open opinions not allowed.
Conservatives dont have the in depth infrastructure ability to weather a media blackout imo. There’s no way a site like that is going to survive when it happens, perhaps they’re concerned about family members getting threatened and attacked like Roger Stones wife, only more systematically the way these revolutions go.
Its going to happen, and its going to shock people, and its also probably going to be effective enough. Republicans will be allowed to be an oppo party, but elections and free speech will be effectively dead.
BUMP BUMP...not reading further.
Effective compromise already in place: repost the articles here, and see if we can post comments of a high standard as should befit FR.
when the choice is the arm or the patient die...
you choose the arm
Likely they were threatened with deplatforming due to comments.
As noted in all posts here on FR before clicking the post button:
Loose lips sink ships.
skidMark thinking oar CHYna thinking.
They're also pretty arrogant. Consider this dinger:
Second, it’s lovely that many of you came here for the conversation in the comments. To have the comments abruptly turned off was the equivalent of our breaking up your party, the great party at which all the guests were interesting and delightful. We appreciate what an unpleasant shock and disappointment that was, and we hate to be the mean parent who broke up the party but, again, sometimes you have to do what you have to do.
Huh? What? Who died and made you the Arbiter of All That is Mature?
And most importantly, Ms Widburg doesn't even give a reason in her hundreds of words. The closest we get is:
All of us who work here agree that the choice was binary: Shut down the comments or shut down the site. Or to use an analogy, amputate the limb or watch the patient die. Looked at from that perspective, there really was no choice.
Or, put another way, their hosting supplier gave them an ultimatum and they sided with the server host. Fair enough - it was a business decision. But be honest, AND don't talk down to us...without our (soon to be zero) clicks, you don't eat.
What I perceive is going on is that Antifa types have been spending a LOT of time and energy as Agent Provocateurs on conservative sites, posting comments that are over the line, and baiting others to join them, exactly as they did at the Capitol protest. We have to take some deep breaths here, look around ourselves carefully, and figure out how we show these people up for who and what they are. Remember, what we are seeing right now is the culmination of GENERATIONS OF PLANNING, since the 1930’s and ‘40’s. A great deal of thought has gone into how we are going to react, and how to use our reactions to destroy us. We need to be smart, not just passionate. And the first observation I’ll make is that we need to think about how to use the energy of the swinging pendulum to help us, not destroy us.
The tone is a bit odd in some parts but it’s clear why they’re closing down the comments section: leftists are combing through comment-sections right now looking for racist, sexist, xenophobic or Trump supporting posts to report to registrars, hosts, infrastructure providers to get sites like American Thinker shut down. It is, as the post said, either a choice of shutting down the comments or shutting down the website.
The Conservative Thinker also has new rules in place for their comment sections, as that was obviously used against them as well.
Read it over there; comment on it over here. Simple.
AT might have done well to give us a plug.
If we (our side) had someone with billions, like Soros, as a sugar daddy, we could hire a team of pre-screeners to weed out threatening and leftist comments, before they were even posted.
Without that, the people who monitor us now have the power (because we let them) to bring us down due just to comments, even if those comments were posted by a Leftist, posing as a ‘conservative’.
Twitter, facebook, and the other anti freedom of speech big tech companies are using some form of "we feel responsible for our impact" BS as justification for what is really politically motivated censorship. They are trying to have it both ways - no actual legal responsibility while claiming a social responsibility.
The threat then is, any other social media platform must take similar measures else be tarred with the same brush as the most radical elements (real or imagined) using their service. It doesn't even matter if that social media platform caves or stands firm. Other supporting "woke" (aka anti freedom of speech) entities will assist in the take-down. We just saw this happen to Parler and it remains to be seen if it is a permanent take down or merely a temporary inconvenience.
No doubt other online entities are or soon will be targets of the anti free speech fascists: right here at FR; maybe NewsMax; maybe MeWe; etc. Those who would control the flow of information really don't want competition or off-message information getting out. Just consider, AOC wants her "truth commission" or whatever to "rein in" the press. Sounds a lot like the Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment. Heir Goebbels would feel right at home with her.
Web Hosting Provider; Amazon
Never seen a site with so many "reseller" and "marketing" technologies. Loaded with google this and google that as well.
Ditch all that stuff, get different web hosting, use an open source Content Management System with a robust commenting system so you can block any word or phrases you want. Set it up so that the first time someone comments, it's held in moderation. Make it so people have to register. That way you can also filter out certain free email domains like hotmail.
It's not binary. It's fear and laziness and also not being too bright with your choices of web technology.
They have bent the knee.
Now go suck on it you traitors.
Much of FR is just republished American Thinker articles. Pretty lame content.
bump
We already know. YOU WERE TOLD TO SHUT UP AND SIT DOWN!
And like good little lemmings, you did exactly that.
According to GAB CEO, GAB’s Dissenter browser has a “free speech” option. You can comment on an article and see the comments of other GAB Dissenter users.
