A 22-year-old woman is accused of purposefully running someone over with her car for the second time.
According to a news release from the Wilmington Police Department, Shadasia Ellison allegedly ran the woman over "in the midst of an argument." Police found Ellison a few miles away from the scene and took her into custody.
The release noted police are still determining what charges to file against her.
The 20-year-old is in critical but stable position at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Her name has not been released.
This is not the first time Ellison has been accused of using her vehicle as a weapon. On Jan. 9, 2018, Ellison "purposely hit 19-year-old Tameka Cooper with her vehicle in the 1400 block of Willard St.," (snip)
She was captured in a Facebook live video during the incident following a dispute over a man for whom Cooper was a romantic rival, the StarNews reported. Ellison surrendered to the police a day after Cooper was hit.
She was charged with attempted first-degree murder, child abuse, felony hit and run, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, reckless driving with wanton disregard, and probation violation.
According to the N.C. Department of Public Safety, Ellison has previously been convicted of larceny, assault, hit and run, and driving while her license was revoked.
N.C. Courts, notes Ellison has upcoming court dates on Jan. 28 and Jan. 29 for charges of hit and run leaving the scene with property damage and misdemeanor injury to personal property for crimes allegedly committed in 2020. She is also scheduled to be in court for 2021 charges of driving without a license, injury to personal property, and unsealed wine or liquor in the passenger area as well as 2019 charges of driving without a license and probation violation.
