I Just Had The Pfizer Vaccine
1/14/2021 | Nikos1121

Posted on 01/14/2021 4:54:38 AM PST by nikos1121

I think people here know that I’m a doctor.

I just completed the second shot of the two dose Pfizer vaccine. I felt virtually nothing after the first shot and nothing after the second shot given about 15 hours ago.

The injection consists of only 0.3 ml. Contrast that with the flu vaccine that is 0.5 ml.

The first shot helps your body recognize the virus, and the second revs up your immune system.

As you know, 99% of those infected with the virus recover fully. On the other hand there is a small percentage that recover but not fully. We call these people “long haulers.”

You might want to read up about them as many are formally very healthy even athletic.

Don’t be afraid of this shot. I recommend that you take it when it becomes available.

Dr on texags site who recently had covid is having a reaction . night sweats pain fever etc.

This sort of reminds me of shingles shot. Some people have intense reaction and others dont.

Seems like good idea to take shot when you have a few days off

I haven't forgotten any of that. People did in automobile accidents every day and we still take the risk of going out. On balance, I reckon my chances are far better taking the vaccine than not.

I think it is a shame that people in positions of authority and responsibility have acted so irresponsibly that public confidence is shaken. I am not a Covid hysteric, if it were up to me, I would open the schools and end mandates. But it is up to mental defectives like Andrew Cuomo and Gretchen Whitmer. (Sorry, but I think that that characterization is accurate.)

The shingles shot, especially the second one is rough. It can give you a violent reaction.

From what I learned, a fair amount a people had a mild reaction about 8 to 12 hours after the second shot...ie fever, body aches etc that went away the next morning.

I forgot to say that I took some adult aspirin a few days before my second shot, and two adult Tylenol the morning of my second shot, and again after the shot, and a third one before bed. So maybe that helped.

You get the second shot three weeks after the first. I guess you can delay it a couple days, so as to coincide with the weekend.

Going to get the MMR II since i probably had that funky measles vax in the 60s

Daughter #1, born in 1969 had the measles shot at age 12 months.

Daughter #2, born in 1970, had the MMR. Her age group needed it for public school. She has since had boosters since the immunity does wane in time and her youngest child is 6 (and the ob had her have the booster.)

Thank you for your information. My internist and cardiologist have both taken the vaccine and recommend it for all their patients. So far, they have not shown the Sign of the Beast...

It will be interesting to see how the vaccine competes with the new 501.V2 variant, also known as 20C/501Y.V2, B.1.351 lineage and South African COVID-19 (no offense) variant.

From Wikw:

On 4 January 2021 UK newspaper The Telegraph reported that Oxford immunologist Sir John Bell believed there was "a big question mark" over the new South African variant's potential resistance to COVID-19 vaccines, raising fears that vaccines might not work as effectively on that variant strain. The same day, professor of vaccinology Shabir Madhi commented to CBS News that "it's not a given" that the new 501.V2 variant would be able to evade the vaccines, but that it should be considered that they "might not have the full efficacy"

We have to get a flu shot each year for different strains of influenza. Wouldn't it be funny if we had to get a new vaccine for each new strain of a coronavirus.

It seems like the story about this virus changes by the hour.

I’m told that the vaccine gives you a stronger immune response compared to getting the virus and recovering.

We’re told, you can’t get re infected, but I’m seeing people who have had the virus, then a couple months later getting re exposed, and sick again.

So, I think if I were you, I’d wait at least 6 months up to one year, after you had the virus, and get the vaccine.

The other option is to have an antibody test.

That was a stupid decision. The hydroxychloriquine cocktail works virtually 100% of the time if you test positive.

If she had some risk factors, probably yes for sure.

I can’t speak for the other vaccines, but the Pfizer didn’t do much to me, and in fact, I’m even wondering if I got a placebo.

You can still get the virus. The vaccine only reduces the symptoms or the infection.

And the flu shot was developed for last years strain so most of the times is not effective for this years model.

Can you elaborate? Did you get the disease (CV19) after your shot?

Trust me, I was at first not wanting to take it. But I see hundreds of people with symptoms, and for testing each month. So, I decided, I don’t want to end up a Long Hauler.

I’m astounded at some of the responses. I know several folks who have had this and the worst experience was a mild sinus area headache for a few hours. They slept it off and were fine. I hope it helps.
