WASHINGTON (KDVR) — Rep. Lauren Boebert was briefly refused entry to the U.S. Capitol Tuesday evening.
Boebert, who has announced her intention to carry a gun on Capitol grounds, set off a metal detector. It wasn’t clear if she had a cellphone or other metal object in her purse.
Not guilty!
I'm going to try that next time. We're all equal, right?
No—but it is good for one of the few people on the right who still is conceded rights by those who would seize them to assert those rights to remind them that we all should have that right.
I vote not guilty on her, but guilty for 400+ members of Congress.
And others too.
There is a provision in the U.S. Constitution that protects members of Congress from harassment and arrest while carrying out their duties and while traveling to and from their respective houses of Congress.
On that, we are in agreement. And I bet you and I both work with people who have no business being armed.
No you don’t under the constitution.
Representatives and senators have specials considerations when congress is in session.
She has a Sarah Palin look about her — and attitude. I like it.
And that’s working real well. /s
I believe that
1) Only US citizens should be allowed to have firearms. No Green Card holders,no holders of temporary visas, and NO WETBACKS!
2) People with certain medical conditions should be denied firearms at least temporarily...if not permanently.
2) People who have been convicted of certain crimes, certain types of crimes, should be denied firearms for life.
Yes,I know that the left could try to unfairly diagnose...or criminally charge...people with the hope of eroding the 2nd Amendment.
Item #3 is a non-starter unless it is negotiated as part of a plea deal. Anyone who is legally allowed to vote should be entitled to own a firearm ... and I do believe that convicted felons should be allowed to vote after they are no longer under sentence for their crimes.
She needs us standing with her in prayer as much as we did for President Trump.
She is one courageous lady and God bless her for bucking the entrenched coup cabal.
Some are more equal than others.
OK, this one I am kind of torn on. If someone commits a crime and does prison time (no parole, no time off, etc) and fulfills their debt to society, I see no reason that their rights should not be fully reinstated. Now, if the crime was so heinous, or the person is so morally bankrupt that they have proven they are still a threat, we need to ask why wasn't capital punishment applied or why is this person being allowed out of prison to begin with?
Freedom from arrest. Not freedom from metal detectors.
It's not 400+ members of Congress, it's one. Nancy Pelosi. She's the Speaker so her house, her rules.
Disagree on the basis of there being no provision for who makes these judgements.
One could make the case that police officers and former military shouldn’t own guns - PTSD.
No way. I like ‘shall not infringe’ just fine, thank you.
Those certain types of crimes should only be violent crime, such as murder, attempted murder, rape, kidnapping etc using a firearm while doing so.
