I think it was unfair of Trump, at the last minute, to lay the entire responsibility of Win/Lose on Pence. Don’t tell me he didn’t do that, because he did exactly that with a tweet. He put Pence in a difficult position there. If it was that easy for the Vice President to nullify electoral votes and award the loser a victory, then Biden would have done that for Hillary 4 years ago.
I expect to be flame broiled for this.
If Beria was alive today the modern police state would shock even him. The IRS is the frontline enforcer of obedience in the US now with the DOJ/FBI taking on the big fish troublemakers.
I remember back during the early days of COVID with the daily briefings, Trump kept imploring Pence to basically "step up and lead", but Pence kept reverting back to political-speak. On more than one occasion, I saw Trump actually cut a rambling "political answer" off and provide a more direct, concise answer.
I think Pence is pretty "squeaky clean" by DC standards, so I doubt there's much on him. BUT, I think that Pence is enough of a politician that he sees his political future lies with the Deep State, so he's cozying up to them now.

(btw, I don’t agree that Pence had the Constitutional ability but scholars have differing opinions on the matter)

More significantly Beria was Stalin’s head of the NKVD who held the position the longest. Beria conducted Stalin’s purge of Yeshov’s NKVD, the perpetrators of the Red Terror, killing Beria and sending almost half the NKVD to their desths or gulags.

I live in Indiana...moved here before he ran for Governor. I was busy with young kids, and a little more “clueless” back then, so...I don’t really know the answer, except for...at the time, he “seemed” like a a nice guy. The joke was on me.

Trump and several sets of state officials asked for a delay in the certification vote by the Senate due to apparent election fraud in their states. That was all that was asked, a delay. Pence should have granted the delay.
I do believe there was some merit to the allegations in the Franklin Cover Up
