Ketchup on eggs can be a subject of intense debate. Is this a combination you grew up with, or is the idea completely foreign to you? Based off of casual conversation here at The Takeout, it’s clear that for every enthusiast, there’s a hater who despise the very idea of Heinz on the breakfast table. And as a condiment, people have very strong feelings about ketchup more generally, like whether or not it belongs on hot dogs or, as we’ve discussed amongst ourselves previously, on burgers. So what do you think? Does ketchup belong on eggs?

Same goes for mayonnaise on anything.
LOL!
About two years ago I moved way up north to Birmingham, AL from southern Louisiana.
I like ketchup with fries. I'll eat ketchup on a burger, but prefer sliced tomatoes. I slop the mustard on, but can't take mayo on a burger, much preferring horseradish instead.
Sirachi was invented in California :^)
It’s good on Cheeseburgers too!
Good on all Asian foods...
Never. I use pepper and Frank’s Hot Sauce on my scrambled eggs omelet, and that’s it.
Yes and pepper plant
On eggs?!!!
Definitely not—ketchup on eggs? Waste of good eggs.
Dat looks good.
Hear, hear! Tabasco and eggs go together like milk and cookies. My eggs LOVE to be buried in a hot wave of Tabasco. Woo hoo!
Ketchup? That is just wrong.
Nope. Not in my house.
Philistines can do what they want in their houses.
Only by accident - I like a little ketchup on my home fries - if it touches my eggs that’s fine - but I don’t do it on purpose.
I NEVER put ketchup on hotdogs - only mustard - ketchup is for hamburgers.
Having said that, I think all these food “rules” are stupid.
My son in law does this. It drives me crazy. Also...any kind of hot sauce. It’s not normal. Yellow and red simply do not go together.
Burgers without ketchup? Bite your tongue!!
Some things just cry out for ketchup. It is a nice change up for french fries to dip in. I can’t eat meat loaf without ketchup. I much prefer it to a sauce of some kind.
Ketchup has its uses. Just not on eggs or hot dogs. People who eat ketchup on hot dogs have a serious mental illness. They need psychiatric help of some kind. Srsly.
Yes.
Ketchup is just used to flavor stuff. If you put them on scrambled eggs, all you taste is the ketchup. Even on a burger it kills the taste.
If you cook with seasonings, you shouldn’t need to cover the taste with other stuff.
Condiments are supposed to enhance the flavor.
I honestly don’t get the least bit concerned that my wife puts ketchup on the omelettes I make for her. Well, I do. I just stopped mentioning it.
Dirty Harry was right. Ketchup on hot dogs? You gotta be sick.
