Oath of Enlistment (VANITY)

Posted on 01/05/2021 6:04:15 PM PST by NTHockey

At 10 AM on Monday, January 5, 1959, I swore this oath on entering the United States Marine Corps:

"I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

That oath has no expiration date and is good for everything, up to and including my life. Our country calls upon us once more to defend her.

My son was swearing the same thing this morning with the Air Force. He is the football fan of death, so I feel sorry for the Air Force Academy football team. Poor guys.

Oh yes, there is it again, no violence, as violence has been perpetrated against Trump supporters for years now. They subverted and criminally undermined our elections, our sacred privilege to vote, our Constitution and our president.

Considering everything those in this government have conspired to do and have done to criminally undermine and compromise a legitimately elected president of the United States, when would you think it be justified for people to resort to violence? Considering epic election fraud, what would you suggest be done to effectively stop this overthrow of our country? More flag waving? Write a letter to Congress? More rallies?

Not an oath of enlistment, but this is what I took when running for office in Illinois, and at one time was required for teachers in the state but probably isn’t anymore judging by the low quality of teachers these days.
It optional now I believe, and many politicians who took it did so knowing they were in violation of it or with the intention of violating it. Apparently it’s fairly unique among the states:

Three different Active Duty enlistments:

Nov 81-Nov 87
JAN 90-Sep 95

And many reenlistments with National Guards/Reserves in Pennsylvania, Arkansas, Georgia, and Texas. 23 years total.

The oath is forever!

Actually took the OATH every time I re-enlisted, until I was sworn in as a Warrant Officer. So I took it a total of 4 times. Still never has expired!
