TOKYO (AP) - Tick-Tock-Tick.
The countdown clock for the postponed Tokyo Olympics hit 200 days to go on Monday.
Tick-Tock-Tick.
Also on Monday, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga said he would consider calling a state of emergency as new coronavirus cases surge to record numbers in Tokyo and neighboring prefectures. Japan has never had a lockdown for COVID-19, attempting to juggle the economy and health risks.
Tick-Tock-Tick.
It’s nearing deadline time for Tokyo Olympic organizers, the International Olympic Committee, and various Japanese government entities as they try to pull off the Games in the middle of a pandemic.
Officials have promised to announce concrete plans early in the new year about how to get 15,000 Olympic and Paralympic athletes into Japan; about the safety of the Athletes Village, and hundreds of thousands of fans, media, judges, officials, broadcasters and VIPs.
The new year is here.

I hear that football is up and running. Maybe even basketball, soccer, golf and hockey. Just do it.

Man.
I’d better start training.
What are there like seven events in the Decathlon?

Japan has never had a lockdown for COVID-19, attempting to juggle the economy and health risks. They had a rather bad experience with totalitarianism before and during World War II. They didn't much like it and don't care to bring it back.

It doesn’t look good.
Japan just shut itself off from the entire world.
No travel in or out of Japan lock down announced today.
We are back to 1865.
Cause? Likely the UK and South African Covid-19 variants.

I could go back to the 70s Battle Of The Network Stars multiple times over as opposed to the olympics.

You may be more entertained with the Battle of the Networks.
Depending on how the pandemic goes, our Japanese brothers and sisters may have to compete against themselves.

Wouldn’t that really be something!
They would have a tinkertoy parade for me.
All the emperors of the states would greet me.
They’d probably give me 10% off at most stores.

Is the Olympics allowing fake women to compete against women?

Running was never my thing.
I plan on starting a walking routine and half try to jog some at some point.
Recently I replaced my worn-out shoes after a few years of hard use.

I used to be able to run a 4.9 second 40 yard dash. Of course I was a sophomore in High School. But not bad for a scrawny white kid.

More than I could ever do.
My wife is/was a big run nut.
The closures of everything ended those big Saturday morning running events around here.

I was in track and field. Ran the 110 meter high hurdles, and the 4x100 relay.

My younger sister did track and field stuff in school.
No record breaker but stayed healthy.

My wife was an ultra-marathoner. Has had both hips replaced and the knees are on edge. I have taught her the joys of sloth.

We could co-write a book titled that.
