Paul McCartney claims he speaks to his late Beatles bandmate George Harrison through a TREE he was gifted at his home

Sir Paul McCartney has claimed he's been talking to George Harrison, as he believes his late friend's spirit has inhabited a tree at his home.

The music icon, 78, made the candid confession while appearing on NPR earlier this month, and said his fellow Beatles member, who passed away in 2001 from lung cancer, had given him the fir tree as a gift.

He explained: 'George was very into horticulture, a really good gardener, so he gave me a tree as a present. It's a big fir tree and it's by my gate.

'As I was leaving my house this morning, I get out of the car, close the gate and look up at the tree and say, ''Hi, George''.

'There he is, growing strongly. And you know, that takes me back to the time when I hitchhiked with him! They're an ever-present presence, if that's a way to say.'

Paul went on: 'It's lovely. He gave it to me — I just planted it. But then, as the years go by, every time I look at it I go, ''That's the tree George gave me''.

'George has entered that tree, for me. I hope he's happy with that.'

Paul McCartney’s new song, The Kiss of Venus, is good.

The whole album is pretty good compared to his usual dreck.

Yoko was an atheist. If anything she’ll be attacking Paul for culturally appropriating the tree.

It doesn’t take a tree surgeon to see the man has gone a bit too far out on the branch

I saw Paul on the Flowers in the Dirt tour. He's excellent live and I thought he was way more talented than John. He's also a smart businessman and I do think he'd be shrewd enough to say this to scare up sales.

However, I have to imagine, given his life and what he's lived, on some level, he's nuts.

Paul is my least favorite Beatle, but, yes, this is a garbage story typical of the British tabloids. Harrison gave him the tree, so it reminds him of Harrison. That’s pretty much it.

George Harrison was a Hindu.
He was also a treehugger.
Hindu’s believe in reincarnation.
George came back as a tree.
Makes sense to me.

Although George was baptized as a Catholic as an infant, George was not a Christian. He sometimes expressed admiration for the teachings of Jesus, but he was mostly a Hindu until the time of his death. According to the Wikipedia article on “The Religion of the Beatles”:

“Harrison continued to embrace the Hare Krishna tradition (particularly japa-yoga chanting with beads) and became a lifelong devotee.[17] He was also a vegetarian, on religious grounds, from 1968 until his death.[18] Along with his wife Olivia, son Dhani and close friends, members of the Radha Krishna Temple were at his bedside when Harrison died in Los Angeles on 29 November 2001.[19] In her press statement, Olivia referred to the Hindu aspiration of breaking the cycle of rebirth (and so achieving moksha), saying: "The profound beauty of the moment of George's passing – of his awakening from this dream – was no surprise to those of us who knew how he longed to be with God. In that pursuit, he was relentless."[20] In accordance with his wishes, Harrison's ashes were scattered at Varanasi in India, at the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers.[20]”
