Is that an F-15 launching missiles?
It took a while, but I can almost make that out.
I suspect that in 100 years The Blue Boy and The Man in the golden Helmet will still be on display as fine art. Much of what we call “modern art” today will be a a small room labelled “Hoaxes of the Past”. It’ll be next to the International Scam Museum which will itself have displays of “Bitcoin”, “Wind Power” and “Red Chinese AAA Bonds”
No one who grew up with Conan could ever forget Frank Frazetta. All other fantasy artists must be judged against him.
What’s to understand?
I love good fantasy paintings! Love them so much I sometimes think I am a Knights-Errand. Must get armor, a nag horse and a squire and go off on ADVENTURES!

Maybe. But who cares. In the end that’s just you wanting to sound superior. And I don’t care. I like that piece you included. It’s neat. Sorry your mind is too pathetically narrow to see that. Sorry your ego is so fragile you have to make silly pointless declarations about 100 years from now to feel good about yourself.
Wrong. Egotistically stupidly pathetically WRONG. Wow the sad sacks sure come out in force on these threads. Roger Dean is art, and anybody that says otherwise is just a dipstick loser wanting to boost their ego coping a dumb position.
Lol. That was pretty fragile.
Modern art is a money laundering scheme.
There’s no other explanation for why a painting like that would go for $30 million.
That artist has been dead for decades. Hollyweirdos bought up his works long ago and it is they who make bank when one sells for $30,000,000
I’ve got that one somewhere.
No Michael Parkes?
L
A good one.
Be that as it may. It’s still crap.
A van in my area back in the 70’s was named Hot Box with a buxom woman airbrushed in a sexual pose. Surprised he was not pulled over and arrested.
Hmm...Klingon?
Today’s illustrations are made in computers. And much of it isn’t even a craft.
