Story of Adam & Eve's Dog
email from friend | 12/28/2020 | unknown

Adam and Eve said, 'Lord, when we were in the garden, you walked with us every day. Now we do not see you anymore. We are lonesome here, and it is difficult for us to remember how much you love us.'

And God said, I will create a companion for you that will be with you and who will be a reflection of my love for you, so that you will love me even when you cannot see me. Regardless of how selfish or childish or unlovable you may be, this new companion will accept you as you are and will love you as I do, in spite of yourselves.

And God created a new animal to be a companion for Adam and Eve And it was a good animal and God was pleased .

And the new animal was pleased to be with Adam and Eve and he wagged his tail. And Adam said, 'Lord, I have already named all the animals in the Kingdom and I cannot think of a name for this new animal..'

And God said, 'I have created this new animal to be a reflection of my love for you, his name will be a reflection of my own name, and you will call him DOG.

And Dog lived with Adam and Eve and was a companion to them and loved them. And they were comforted. And God was pleased. And Dog was content and wagged his tail.

After a while, it came to pass that an angel came to the Lord and said, 'Lord, Adam and Eve have become filled with pride. They strut and preen like peacocks and they believe they are worthy of adoration. Dog has indeed taught them that they are loved, but perhaps too well.'

And God said, I will create for them a companion who will be with them and who will see them as they are. The companion will remind them of their limitations, so they will know that they are not always worthy of adoration.' And God created CAT to be a companion to Adam and Eve.

And Cat would not obey them. And when Adam and Eve gazed into Cat's eyes, they were reminded that they were not the Supreme Beings.

And Adam and Eve learned humility. And they were greatly improved.

And God was pleased. And Dog was happy.

And the Cat didn't give a s**t one way or the other...

I saw pretty much the same presented as a comic.

“Lord, I shall create a creature of pure love to accompany humans...”

(holds up a dog.)

(little short demon skips a beat, obviously pondering... Extra panel in comic.)

(Demon holds up cat.)

/ would not trade any of my past cat friends.

So true.
However, our animals love us so much that it would be a BIGGER tragedy for them to outlive us. My previous golden retrievers would have been totally LOST without me and it is hard to imagine anyone loving and spoiling them AS MUCH as I did. But losing them was the absolute HEARTBREAK of my life - worse than the loss of ANY past relationship.

I’m 78 and I’ve lost four over the last 50 years. Hurts like Hell every time, often worse than a human bereavement.

A cat is a cat, is a cat, is a cat. No way we are going to change them. We have 4 of them, and they rule!

Sorry for the ending;)

Don't be sorry, it's true. And today, the dog continues to chase it's tail and lick it's private parts while waiting for its master to throw anything just so it can run after it and pick it up and bring it back.......

While the cat today looks on in amusement and says to itself, screw that crap, let the dog fetch it.......

There’s a big grandfather Oak that the family brings fallen kiddos to, from goldfish on up, and I won’t lie about renting Teramites for burying horses out in the pasture.

LOTS of burials between roots. It really does such how far apart our lifespans are. It sucks each time.

I lost my last one two months ago. It almost killed me. He lived years longer than most of his breed. I know I can’t get another because I would never have them be left behind. I found that it gets harder with each one lost.

Amen. Have lost nine in my lifetime. It takes a sorrowfully long time to get over the loss. Holes in the heart take forever to heal.

Adam was naming the animals, with God and the angels watching him. Zebra, snail, porcupine, hippopotamus. God was proud of his new creation and the creativity he was showing.

The last animal came through, and Adam named it dog. “Smart,” God said, “that’s God backwards. That’s a great name for the pinnacle of the animal kingdom.

Suddenly a cat ran by. “What was that?” said Gabriel. God replied, “I don’t know. I didn’t create that.”

Our cat is very obedient. (At least when we’re awake and watching). But I’m not fooled;I know it’s all her idea, or she wouldn’t be. But then, one of our little dogs is stubborn and ill tempered. I could blame it on his old age, but he’s been that way ever since he was no longer a puppy. He has not been mistreated; he’s just ornery. Our other little dog is sweet natured and obedient.
