I started using “I’ve already had it, I’m part of the 99.995% who survive.”

Who in their right mind is going to put a mask on his or her face given to them by a total stranger that the stranger pulled from his or her car. It could be used. Yuck.

My response is “Masks are magic and you have yours.”

Who controls the extent of the customer's satisfaction? What if I want to force my business on them shirtless and shoeless?

Revelation 13:17
And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name

I’ve become sort of friends with a guy who owns a repair facility that also has a retail store. His wife and daughter run the store. A few weeks ago, i went in to buy something and when I walked up to the counter they started to mask up. (I wasn’t wearing one)

Then she realized who I was and as she was removing her mask she said “Oh, it’s just you.”

That works.

If I do capitulate and put the useless face diaper on, it’s never before I’m at least 50 feet inside the store. That’s about where it comes off too.

Side note, so we’re in the midst of an illegal vacation. My MIL got exposed a few days ago. We came anyway. She just got tested this morning and got a negative.

Just common sense. Long before the pandemic, how did you feel about a cashier coughing? Say she's coughing into her hand and then touching the things you just bought? How about blowing her nose and then touching your things without washing her hands? I've never said anything to cashiers about that behavior, but I don't like it, especially when they lick their fingers to separate plastic bags or count cash. If another customer complains, I don't blame that customer.

As someone else might have already coined this on FR or elsewhere, this plandemic has generated a new noun:

maskhole.

People cough, they do it all their lives, especially in winter.

But misanthropes hate people, the image bearers of God, leprosy suspects all of them. Our world has become the festivus of misanthopy.

Job 2:8-9
8 And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat down among the ashes.
9 Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.

Sure, everyone coughs sometimes, but not when serving customers, especially during a pandemic. Whether someone believes masks help or not doesn’t matter. We’re just talking good business sense here.

Funny thing is, mostly cashiers are yelling at customers for not wearing masks. And here, we have a customer complaining about a cashier, and the cashier’s feelings are hurt and her boss is telling the customer off. Everything is backwards now.

I just don't understand today's workforce.

And I don't understand why people think it is ok to force others to play make believe in their land of mental illness.

She could've put a mask on, just to make the customer happy.

Just bake the cake right?

The boss did not complain, the mentally ill customer threw a hissy fit and he did not appreciate having his employee abused and told her to shop else where. Mentally ill customer was the one who went crying to the world about it.

Good for the Boss!

That's not even a good comparison. A better comparison would be that the baker coughed on the cake, and you complained that she coughed on the cake, and she cried to the boss because you complained, and then the boss told you to never, ever come into his bake shop again.

Cashiers today either yell at you to pull up your mask, or they cry if you tell them to wear one? Is that where we are today?

Sure it is.

Thanks to you.

You are the one having a hissy.

Like the erstwhile customer in the article.

But it is nice to know that you think it is ok to abuse employees.

gives a lot of insight into your character.

So, if a customer complains about something, that's abuse now? I've had to handle many irate customers in different jobs. Anyone who's offended by a complaining customer should find a different line of work. Here's what store employees should do: Be helpful and polite to customers. When customers complain, stay calm and cool.

Would you have asked a clerk to go through the trouble to mask up a year ago?
If not, why not then and do so now?
Why will you do so next flu season?
Just the new normal now, what is next?

We’re just talking about good business sense. Guess I’m old-school, but we were told never to argue with a customer, even if the customer is irate.

As for asking someone to wear a mask - I mind my own business. So far, I’ve asked only one person, and that was because I was required to wear a mask, but the worker (who got very close) didn’t have his on. When I pointed that out, he immediately put on a mask.
