MURRAY, Utah — A woman in Utah says she was told not to return to a Salt Lake County business for asking an employee to wear a mask.
Nicole Taylor says she wanted all-season tires put on her car.
So, she went to Jeffery P. Davis Automotive in Murray.(snip)
After the tires were put on her car, Taylor says she went to pay, and noticed the receptionist wasn’t wearing a mask.
“She was coughing,” said Taylor. “I had a mask on. I asked her if she could put a mask on while I paid. I even offered to give her one from my car since I carry extras.”
The exchange didn’t go over well. Afterwards, Taylor says she received a voicemail from the shop’s manager.
“You are not the mask police, and it is not your right to do that to somebody,” the manager says on the recording. “To make them feel that way. It’s exactly what’s wrong with society today. You are no longer invited to our facility.”
Both the manager and receptionist declined to go on camera or give their names for ABC4’s report.
They did offer statements. The receptionist says “I felt as if Taylor was blaming me that people were getting sick and dying.”
The manager says “Another human being should not make another human feel that way regardless of what’s happening.”
“To me, it was concerning that they were that angry,” said Taylor.(snip)
On November 9th, Governor Gary Herbert issued a statewide mask mandate amid a surge in COVID-19 cases.
The Salt Lake County Health Department confirms there is an open investigation into this incident,(snip)
It was for “employees not wearing masks, and told they weren’t required to.”

Nicole Karen Taylor.
Another do-gooder snitch...
Everybody’s prickly about those masks, now about the oncoming vaccines. More prickly than a grumpy Hedgehog!
That’s why I never wear a mask in public, just to invite a Karen to throw a hissy fit and to show how stupid they look walking their dogs with their sanctimonious mask on..
Prolly could have paid-up more quickly than the time it took to debate the mask thing. Also seems like Nicole didn’t trust her own mask.
So damn tired of mask nazis. These covid Karen’s and Karl’s need an ass whoopin.
The Manager seemed more concerned with babying the cashier’s
hurt feelings, vs working with a paying customer.
I don’t like masks either, but they are here, surrounded by all manner of rules and signs. It was NOT out of order for the customer to bring it up, when a cashier is seen coughing in this day and age. The cashier could have just taken the darn mask, thanked the paying customer, apologized for being without mask during her sinus cold, and that would have been the end of it. It’s usually not hard to be polite and somewhat diplomatic.
You are not going to convince a Masker that they are in the wrong. They are often led by their fears. I have family like that now.
It’s not personal unless the Masker gets directly abusive.
Then, all bets (and Masks) are off!
And if the purchased tires need to be serviced under a warranty or a maintenance contract? I am not condoning the actions of the customer, but how does the tire shop enforce this?
If she was coughing and you were so scared, then you should have paid and got the hell out ASAP. Instead you had to go on for 15 more minutes demonstrating how virtuous you are.
They can’t - just show up uninvited.
Karenazi bitch.
It’s a private business, if the owner does not care to wallow in the idiotic beliefs of those that think a piece of cloth will prevent passage of a virus particle, it is his well informed right.
Sounds like someone from Park City got lost and wound up in Murray.
If the police come don't lie just leave. Because there is wiggle room for them to find your information through HIE (Health Information Network)

Interesting, because I was thinking that he’s sticking up for her by defending her against mask tyranny.
We don’t know the whole story and to assume that she’s just being a baby about it over her feelings is wrong.
Could be she has a health issue that is NOBODY’S business but hers.
Good for the owner for bucking mask tyranny.
Or go to a different location if it’s a chain.
It’s not the only tire store in Salt Lake County. She can go hassle someone else.
