I am with the Japanese on this. I don't particularly like turkey. But I just love KFC.

Now, tomorrow, my hosts for Christmas are grilling steaks--which is even better.

For my Jewish friends growing up it was Chinese food and a movie, although one of them now ironically prefers Sushi for Xmas.

Taking my mother out to dinner tonight as it’s just the two of us. Never likes Turkey at anytime of year.

Used to be our family tradition on Christmas Eve but most of my family is gone. Now they have mini wings in the bucket ( pidgeon? ) which are all broken. Did the birds owe somebody money?

I almost never eat KFC anymore. Some years ago, they changed the recipe, so now it doesn’t taste as good. And instead of honey for your biscuits, they give you something called “honey sauce,” a concoction that is mostly high fructose corn syrup.

Colonel Sanders is a real celebrity in Japan.

There are many movies about him.

King Kong Versus Colonel Sanders.
Mothra Versus Colonel Sanders.
Colonel Sanders Versus Mecha Colonel Sanders.

They usually end with Colonel Sanders walking into the ocean.

I wonder if KFC still gets their chicken from China?
Last I heard, as unbelievable as that is, with all of the American Farms, KFC and PaPa John’s pizza get their meat products from China.

Untrue. Yeah, KFC markets chicken as a Christmas tradition, but every chain shop, convenience store, supermarket, shopping mall, car dealership, sports shop...anything and everywhere rides the bandwagon for marketing holidays. This is just one of the better known ones. No one I know has ever made a Christmas feast of take-out KFC. It’s just a thing that’s been in popular culture for 50 years or so, so it gets international attention. Some people like to get a bucket of chicken on Christmas for their families simply because it’s funny and something they probably remember growing up with as a child. There’s no actual “there, there” in the way foreign media always repeats this story every Christmas.

you cvan find KFC-like recipes for home made chicken online- Here’s one:

2/3 tablespoon salt
3 tablespoons white pepper
1 tablespoon black pepper
1/2 tablespoon basil
1 tablespoon celery salt
1 tablespoon dried mustard
2 tablespoons garlic salt
1 tablespoon ground ginger
1/3 tablespoon oregano
4 tablespoons paprika
1/2 tablespoon thyme

https://www.tasteofhome.com/article/kfcs-secret-recipe-crispy-fried-chicken/

They say to add in MSG though for ‘the secret flavor’ and claim MSG isn’t bad- and explain why in seperate article- but I’ll still avoid it thanks

My friend in Australia goes to KFC more for the hamburgers than the chicken... he didn’t believe it when I told him that KFC here in America doesn’t even serve burgers.

There’s a rumor New York Jews stated a tradition of eating Chinese on Christmas because Chinese Restaurants were the only ones open Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Now it’s a tradition...
