Nigella Lawson reveals why she will not be cooking turkey this Christmas
bbc ^ | 12/23/2020

Celebrity chef Nigella Lawson has said that "for the first time ever" she will not cook a Christmas turkey this year.

Instead, she told the BBC's Newscast podcast, she would be cooking pork.

While restrictions have been eased for some parts of the UK over Christmas, millions of people will not be allowed to see their loved ones.

And Lawson, 60, said she felt following a traditional path while not having "a family Christmas" would make her "feel what's missing".

"I actually - and I only made the decision a couple of days ago - for the first time ever, I am not going to do a turkey - and I always do," she said.

"I'm doing pork.

"It's not going to be a normal family Christmas, therefore I think I will feel less sad doing something that is just a lovely lunch, that takes in a few Christmas traditions from elsewhere that interest me, but [does] not... make me feel what's missing."

I might saute a bit of chopped onion and celery to add to it. For my home-made stuffing (for turkey), I always mince up the turkey liver, brown a pound of sage sausage (don’t drain), use the celery and onion, and a big bag of dressing bread from the grocery store’s bakery area. Water chestnuts sound good, too.

Those legs are dark meat which makes the best soup, to me, anyway. :)

And, that’s a big chicken!

According to Wikipedia, that ‘muslim fellow’, was an Iraqi Jew, Charles Saatchi. In 1947, his parents moved the family to London, to avoid all the reprisals on Jews by mohamedans.

IF she’s porking Christmas, than I’m porking Nige....

She was hot in her younger years with nice, round “arthritis”. Add a hot British accent, and that made for a great cooking show!

Either a very old picture, or photoshop.

Here she is on her cooking show, an episode from November. Judge for yourself.

Two things about that clip... lens blur and plastic surgery. With that said, I must admit that I had a bit of a crush on her ~15 years ago. At one time, she was one on the most attractive of the TV cooking gals. And her recipes were fun. But time (and substance abuse) take their toll.

I am not doing turkey because that is Thanksgiving around here.

We will be having a nice rib roast with green bean casserole (because mom likes it) curry sweet potatoes, (because dad likes it) mashed potatoes, dressing and gravy (because everybody likes it) cranberry relish (because I like it) and creamed spinach (because husband likes it). There will be a shrimp cocktail as a starter (because, why not?). There will also be what ever anyone decides to bring. So far we have cheese balls, corn pudding, tomato and Brie tart, asparagus in Prosciutto and a caprese salad.

And enough desserts to send the entire area into sugar shock.

In honor of those who have been ill this year, carrots are banned.

With the banning of relatives and friends for the holidays and only the 2 of us, we have done and will be doing things different re our future Holiday menus.

We picked up a heat and serve Turkey + full Thanksgiving dinner for the 2 of us and had enough left overs for two lunches. My wife and every friend/couple, we have, who did this will now have a new tradition re buying the prepared Thanksgiving Dinner and eating at home.

For Christmas we are buying Cioppino Seafood Stew. I will pick up our order tomorrow from the same people who fixed our Thanksgiving Dinner.

For New Year’s, we ordered the Honey Baked Spiral Cut ham for 2-4.

Yesterday in the afternoon late pm, I got a text that our ham would be delivered soon. Could I met the delivery guy by our mail box?

I did and 2 different walking couples saw the transaction and joked “Was this a weed drop off?”

We joked about the new changes.

Then, I showed them the ham’s outer box, and both couples took pictures of the big label on the box with the email address.

Both ladies said, that they were no longer spending days buying, preparing, cooking, serving and cleaning up for holiday dinners.

My wife and I used to love to watch Nigella Bites. We both thought she was quite beautiful. As her show progressed, she kept getting fatter, and she would show herself getting up at midnight for a snack of some sort of cream-filled dessert. We saw her recently for the first time in years on a Martha Stewart show and we were both surprised at how good she looks.

I’ve been to South Padre Island (I prefer Okaloosa Island) and Chicago (never again). I wish you luck and Happy Holidays. I’ve never been to Kentucky But I wouldn’t mind a visit to it. I have relatives in Maryland so I may get the chance.
