In any defamation lawsuit, truth is always a defense.
If OANN is sued, I want to see them fight back. I am even supportive of an arrangement where patriots fund the defense of such lawsuit.

Hard to believe Fox is being cowed by this threat. By that I mean, it is hard to believe they have not performed the calculus of regaining the value of their lost viewership against the risk of this suit.

If Dobbs had actual evidence, he could have stood up to them. Fox has a much stronger financial position than Smartmatic, and can afford the legal battle. But if you call them out for criminal activity on television, you have to be prepared to show proof. Instead, Dobbs was forced to “debunk” his own story.
I guess Dobbs (and his producers and lawyers who are supposed to protect Dobbs) screwed up big time accusing a company without proper proof. And now they all have to pay the embarrassing price.
