trying to place 21st century morals and standards on the past peoples does a disservice to history, our ancestors, and truth.
That’s surprising, considering some library association decided to rename the Laura Ingalls Wilder Children’s Literature Award because some of her books contained uncomplimentary comments about Indians. In the original book, the “only good Indian is a dead Indian” comment showed up a couple of times, but Indians were shown in a generally favorable light. The comment was there to express a common attitude of white settlers. While it was a bit extreme, one can understand why some would say that considering problems some white settlers had with Indians.
Of course, to get that one would have to read in context, and who does that anymore? /s
Outside of Paramount, I have no idea who these other companies are, so I have no idea how they would handle the books. If they are faithful to the books, it could be something interesting. If they are not faithful, then it won’t be LHOTP.
Possible new titles:
“Little Crib in the Hood”
“Little Hacienda in the Barrio”
“Size Challenged Dwelling in
Deplorable Country”
John boy is from the Walton’s.
and Carrie will turn out to be transgender, she will want to go by the name Connor
Instead of being blind, Mary will be trans. Pa will be finding himself in a relationship with Garvey. Ma will be running for the U.S. Senate to defend abortion rights.
Lol!
My sister used to watch this show religiously. Went down hill when Albert joined and went off the deep end when Albert’s girlfriend was sexually assaulted by his boss while wearing a clown mask.
Laura’s mother was terrified of Indians because of the Dakota War in Minnesota in 1862 which killed at least 800 white settlers.
Oh yeah, the Sylvia episode..Albert ended up dying of leukemia later on in the season
Get your dirty filthy perverted effing hands off of LHOTP. They will ruin it completely just like they ruin everything.
Exactly. And that’s what people, even children, who read the books, need to understand.
Unless the entire cast is gender-dystopic I won’t watch it.
Actually, I won’t watch it either way.
IIRC it was a much closer adaption of the book then the TV series was
Little Bath House on the Prairie.
Awesome!
Thanks for a well-needed belly laugh.
Now that deserves an Ed McMahon "HEYYY--YOOOOO !"
