Any time a liberal candidate is elected to become President of the United States, gun rights and regulations take center stage. Historically, gun sales have surged in the two months between a Democratic presidential nomination and inauguration. And that’s precisely what we’re seeing right now.
A Quick Primer on the Second Amendment
Whenever gun laws and regulations become a key topic of conversation, it’s important to push past the filler and focus on the meat. In other words, start with the Second Amendment of the Bill of Rights and what it says:
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
That’s it -- nothing more and certainly nothing less. It’s 27 simple words, passed by Congress in 1789, ratified in 1791, and held as law for nearly two and a half centuries.
First off, the right to bear arms is an insurance policy against a government that could potentially become too onerous. And as the American government continues to grow and tighten its grip on its citizens, having the means to overthrow the government (if necessary) is more important and relevant than ever before. (Nobody is saying it’ll ever come to this, but having this option is something that’s integral to protecting the rights of the citizenry.)
Secondly, the right to bear arms gives citizens personal protection against domestic enemies. In the early days of this country, there was no state or national police force -- particularly in rural areas. Instead, wanted criminals had bounties placed on their names and armed citizens were expected to capture them. Armed citizens were also expected to protect their own homes (and help protect their neighbors in times of need).

We have villages of shoulder to shoulder gun nuts here, the entirety of which they may very well kill and town razed to the ground. And they will then need to kill the next, and the next. And then they will run out of jackboots to do the killing. Keep in mind also that not everybody is going to be sitting home waiting for antifa thugs with government badges to show up. Tyrants and their midlevel functionaries have homes, too.
If your neighbors have you as a neighbor, then I feel sorry for them. Enjoy your chains having surrendered without a fight, until they kill you and your entire family anyway for whatever... (see Pol Pot)
You don’t get it. Hide them. Report them stolen. Get a police report. Then return the guns and use them freely with no worries. They are officially stolen now they will never look for them again at your house. Get it?
To me, gun rights means the right guns hitting the right targets.
I do see your point. But I am still uneasy about it. In a way, I see it as similar to a Left-wing tax policy — “I’m wealthy. Now other people are going to be taxed, and that’s OK. I’ve got mine.”
I hid my guns. I reported them stolen. The police won’t confiscate my guns. I’ve got mine. Sorry to see other people getting their guns confiscated. Those fools should have been smart like me. But, as I say, I’ve got mine.
That’s not a good policy.
There needs to be a will to use these things. Hiding and reporting them stolen isn’t necessarily bad. It’s a sensible tactic. I do get that. But if that is Step 1, you also need to go to Step 2 which is the active use of the thing. As long as people understand that it may really come to that, then these things have value. If the only thing someone is planning to do is hide them, then what’s the point?
Something akin to banning bump stocks, had these not already been banned.
I will continue to carry wherever I want, and prepare for a war I hope doesn't take place.
I think that depends upon what part of the country you live in.
We need to tell our youngin’ NOT to volunteer for the military. Starve the DOD. Make them re instate the draft. Biden’s fault.
There was another long line outside the gun shop in Mountain View, California yesterday. The long lines there are always putting liberal panties in a twist.
You mean like the Musket vs the Modern Musket? Got it.
“... he will never be my President.”
That has to be the most hollow, most pointless statement in the English language. We heard that from the lefties millions of times and it was pointless when they uttered it.
EXACTLY! The penalties for having a gun will pale compared to the consequences of not having one (or more).
Say good bye to ordering anything gun related online. No more guns or ammo or gun parts. I think that’s the first thing he said he wanted to do. Then take AR style guns. He will try to do everything he can to take them away.
What will happen to all our rights under Biden?
Just declare gun owners in your town as militia, problem solved.

Second Amendment?
What Second Amendment?
Did you fight against ANTIFA? Go to Portland and make a stand? Perhaps your cops didn’t do the lock out? Your villages of gun nuts are like mine, probably filled with a lot of people on government aid. If the .gov said your Social Security would be pulled unless you turn in your guns, how many would line up to do it? 25%? Half? 75%? Most of those “gun friendly” people are quite happy sucking up on the government tit.
One man made a stand, and the cops arrested him for capital murder 1. No one did anything. Cops came and arrested people for going to church IN THE SOUTH, and no one did anything.
Hell, I at least fought that! My church opened back up, and the local sheriff told us he wouldn’t fight it... Yet. But coming January the cops will start cracking down on that too.
See, I have read history. I study people. Most will roll over. Most do not want freedom, it gives them anxiety. Power ultimately comes from the ruling class and if 2020 has shown anything, they don’t like us. The allies we thought we had have shown their contempt.
Trump had two years to lay the groundwork to stop the fraud. He got no where. Perhaps he was stymied at every turn, perhaps he was betrayed, but perhaps it just slipped past him.
We are two generations, maybe three, out from a rebuild. That is how long it took the USSR to collapse. Everyone thinks that some sort of legal trick will save them, but law is just words. It isn’t a magic spell, it requires men with guns and the will to kill to enforce it. Right now, that is all on the other side. There are a lot of people on keyboards bleating away, but not much action. We are a few years away from SS going belly up, and no one wants to make the hard choices to fix it (even on FR). Trump passed a rather horrible tax law, which did not help him in the election, but did help a lot of corporations who then stabbed us in the back.
My point is this. No one is coming. No one is going to help you. It is up to us.
