She could win the 1st annual Heiswoman , however
It was time. He’s an offensive guru whose offenses stunk (at least recently), and he couldn’t beat the rivals. He should go back to being an OC.
Depends on the school. State Universities in Georgia cannot use tuition to pay for any sports activities. That is not true of most states in the nation.
But there is just so much an OC can dumb down an offense for a player. AU has given him plenty of opportunities for success, but he still has a high school hero mentality

Is that you, houston?
Tommy Tuberville beat Alabama six years in a row, and went 13-0 in 2004——and they fired him anyway.
Terry Bowden went 11-0 in 1993-—and they fired him anyway.
Gene Chizik won the national title in 2010-—and they fired him anyway.
Welcome to the party, Gus. You beat Alabama three times, were National runner-up your very first season, and won the SEC twice....and still got fired!
So, tell me, war eagle......who is Auburn going to get that can do better, realistically, than the names mentioned above?
Vandy’s coach lost every game after playing Texas A&M close in their opener. The coach needed to produce an SEC win but didn’t. Then the team was demoralized further by the kicker charade. Vandy needs a new coach and a new AD.
One college coach benchmark to use is “How many times have you beat Nick Saban?”
Gus is #1 at 3 times or 30%, Dabo and Hugh Freeze are 2 times, LS shoe’s Ed O is at 1. That’s about it.
Maybe they’ll try and get Urban Meyer.
We will take Gus up here at Michigan.
I bet you would.
I bet you would.
I agree. I am a long-time Auburn fan. I saw Auburn improving, but falling short because of young lines on both sides of the ball. With teams like Bama, Georgia (Atlanta was a main recruiting area during Auburns best years), Florida (panhandle normally being good recruiting area for AU)being up, it is tough for Auburn to recruit to be top tier every year. i expect their good teams to cycle every so many years. I thought Gus was solid. Gonna be tough to better ourselves.
Problem is Malzahn is a System coach, and eventually teams learn how to defend against the system. Then you find that outside of that, he’s not much of a coach.
I think he’d be a good OC. But I don’t see him as a head coach again, unless it’s a Directional School.
I am an Auburn supporter. But, sometimes I just have to wonder at those making the decisions.
The NIL and the Transfer Portal are wreaking havoc, coaches don’t know what to do.
