Sounds promising.

Surprising this doesn’t come from the CDC nor Fauxcy. /sarc

They should test the genes of the basketball player who collapsed on the court this weekend.

Had Covid during the summer. Might have given him a heart condition. He is in critical but stable condition.

Might give them some interesting clues.

Although, decades ago a basketball player died after a dunk from cardiomyopathy.

I think these days they do tests for that kind of thing

We identify and replicate novel genome-wide significant associations, on chr12q24.13 (rs10735079, p=1.65 × 10-8) in a gene cluster encoding antiviral restriction enzyme activators (OAS1, OAS2, OAS3), on chr19p13.2 (rs2109069, p=2.3 × 10-12) near the gene encoding tyrosine kinase 2 (TYK2), on chr19p13.3 (rs2109069, p=3.98 × 10-12) within the gene encoding dipeptidyl peptidase 9 (DPP9), and on chr21q22.1 (rs2236757, p=4.99 × 10-8) in the interferon receptor gene IFNAR2.

That's the THIRD sentence in the ABSTRACT! I hope they cleared everything up for you in that simple summation.

In the winter 2020 edition of Popular Science, I found this interesting genetic information:

"We've also found that some of the ancient hominin's (Neanderthal's) genetic material seems to trigger an overactive immune response to the novel coronavirus, resulting in a more severe case of COVID-19. This troublesome gene likely stuck around because it helped our ancestors fight disease, but now that we've identified it, we hope to understand it and open the doors to future treatments."

heard the other day that blood type can determine how severe a person gets covid- don’t know if there’s any truth to it- was on newsmax- just caught the tail end of the segment- I believe they said type A was worst- Type O best for not gettign it severely-

looked it up- here’s a link if anyone is interested-

In April anyone (like me) could look at a map and pick out the genes. I repeat my observation:

From early on, and is being studied, is genetic predisposition and when groups were last in Asia by country. East Asians coevolved with similar viruses and are least vulnerable overall because the genetically vulnerable died centuries ago. Next are central Asians. Turks and Slavs who left Asia 1000-1500 years ago are more vulnerable. Then comes Germans and Huns who left Asia 1500-2000 years ago. More vulnerable still are the Celts and Romance who left Asia 2500-5000 years ago. The most vulnerable are Amerindians who left Asia 12000 years ago, and the African diaspora that was never there (excluding Africans themselves due to an extremely young demographic, slow penetration into remote areas, lack of testing and possibly ubiquitous hydroxychloroquine usage due to endemic malaria). The rates per million of cases and deaths in countries follow a straight line up, east to west, no matter what anybody did.

Some people get sick. Some don’t.
I had it. Wasn’t much worse then a cold. Got a good bottle of Gentleman Jack and slept it off before we even had Kung flu lock downs.
