Fascism is most often described by leftist ideologues and talking heads as a philosophy attributed uniquely to the right of the political spectrum. They tend to claim that the inherent authoritarianism present in fascism is a foundational characteristic of mainstream right-wing thought. Not only is this misconception incorrect, but it’s dangerous; the inability to distinguish distinctive ideologies could lead to situations where true warning signs are missed.
Many attribute the rise of fascism to Italy’s Mussolini. However, few know the name of the man Mussolini regarded as the father of fascism— Giovanni Gentile. Gentile was an Italian philosopher who was influenced by Giuseppe Mazzini, a politician and member of the Action Party, a left-wing party that strongly advocated for the establishment of large supranational organizations such as the EU. Gentile also drew influences from other prominent leftist philosophers, among them Karl Marx (as seen in his essay The Philosophy of Marx) and Georg Hegel (as seen in their respective descriptions of the role of the state in Hegel’s Elements of the Philosophy of Right and Gentile’s Manifesto of the Fascist Intellectuals).

Fascism generally comes from a failure of socialist policies.
The fascism we have now is minority based nationalism and redistribute wealth socialism. The emotional draw for our liberal fascism in America is "racism" , identity politics and gender politics. America as the great melting pot of minority culture into American culture is over. Our American institutions have been destroyed, right down to our elections. All we are left with is a disunified mosaic generated by identity politics.
To be clear, i am posting a link which outlines America's liberal fascism clearly, a VERY good read about our present Liberal Fascism:
"Barack Obama: The Quintessential Liberal Fascist"
We are well on our way to totalitarian rule by liberal fascists such as Gavin Newsom, Cuomo, Whittmer and others. And now as they knock on the door of the White House, they will have the ability to ram their Utopia down the throats of every American and assure that there will never be another free and fair election in our country.
Violence is assured. There will be no peace, no transition. And if we do not fight them, we will lose our freedoms. Welome to America's New Dystopian age.
They are both totalitarian dictatorships with different excuses how they got there.
I would say that the Left loves both and the Patriotic Right despises both.
nope
its socialism using a veneer of capitalism as both its workhorse and whipping boy
All “ism”s are different versions of oligarchy. This is just a study on stupid.
None of us agree with that bs, so why can anybody propose it? Nothing but an invalid smear.
Only the most ignorant of morons would even ask this idiotic question...
Although our modern socialists’ promise of greater freedom is genuine and sincere, in recent years observer after observer has been impressed by the unforeseen consequences of socialism, the extraordinary similarity in many respects of the conditions under “communism” and “fascism.” As the writer Peter Drucker expressed it in 1939, “the complete collapse of the belief in the attainability of freedom and equality through Marxism has forced Russia to travel the same road toward a totalitarian society of un-freedom and inequality which Germany has been following. Not that communism and fascism are essentially the same. Fascism is the stage reached after communism has proved an illusion, and it has proved as much an illusion in Russia as in pre-Hitler Germany.”
No less significant is the intellectual outlook of the rank and file in the communist and fascist movements in Germany before 1933. The relative ease with which a young communist could be converted into a Nazi or vice versa was well known, best of all to the propagandists of the two parties. The communists and Nazis clashed more frequently with each other than with other parties simply because they competed for the same type of mind and reserved for each other the hatred of the heretic. Their practice showed how closely they are related. To both, the real enemy, the man with whom they had nothing in common, was the liberal of the old type. While to the Nazi the communist and to the communist the Nazi, and to both the socialist, are potential recruits made of the right timber, they both know that there can be no compromise between them and those who really believe in individual freedom.
— F.A. Hayek, The Road to Serfdom
By that standard Fascism is but a baby step to Communism. Eventually the State decides when it is convenient to take that property with little or no compensation. Communist China can thus be considered Fascist at this time since it tolerates capitalism - for now. Capitalism brings in the hard currency so the PLA can get the toys it wants. Keep in mind that when a Western company has a business (factory, what have you), the CCP has 51% ownership (with no investment by the CCP of course), and no guarantees that the Party will seize the other 49% by fiat. And kiss any semblance of intellectual property goodbye.
The way I explained it to my college-age kids: both fascism and communism are left wing.
The ultra-left wants a dictator: some one, or some government, that controls everything. Since both fascism and communism require strong central governments, they are left wing.
The ultra-right wants no government at all. This if course, leads to anarchy. Capitalism is to the right of fasism, but still a little left of anarchy because capitalism respects the property of others.
An explanation I think fitting is to explain that the Communist version of Marxism is thought of by the Communists as exclusively international -i.e. any other versions are tainted ad corrupted by being centered on a nation or culture. The Fascists in Italy, Spain and Germany were largely socialists but wishing for their nation’s version of socialism and thus damned by the Soviets as Nationalistic and therefore opposed to the sincere international Left.
This explains that the vilification of Nationalism is largely leftism’s attempt to stain as corrupt anything outside of International Communism.
The Left is referred to because they depend from the murderous revolutionaries who sat on the left side of the French Revolution’s national assembly. “Right” is nothing but any opposition to the murderous bastards of the revolutionaries wishing to tear down all of civilization, religion and culture.
“Progressives” hate it when you tell them Hitler was a Socialist.
Read “Vampire Economy” by Gunter Reiman.
“ Isn’t it funny that those who claim that fascism is right-wing always forget about Hitler who was a left-wing pagan.”
And a vegetarian.
Mussolini was a communist pre ww1. He founded fascism. Is communism right wing?
Fascism is a progressive form of socialism. The Bolsheviks were motivated by hatred and revenge. They started with sweeping expropriation and the criminalization of the former ownership, managerial and much of the skilled technical classes as “the rich,” defined as exploiters and class enemies. These class enemies, if they escaped execution, went to the camps. Being profoundly ignorant as well as profoundly arrogant, the Bolsheviks elevated manual workers to managerial jobs and thought the politicos could handle planning and higher administration. This did not work very well. The fascists realized that it was better to keep skilled, trained and experienced people alive and on the job to keep the trains running on time. They coopted the technical and managerial classes, regarding them as allies and junior partners, though with the party still on top and in control of strategic direction. Cooptation usually works much better than the mass murder of most of the competent people, but it does require a different foundation narrative and designated enemy.
Right wing? Read and heed. sound like “Birds of a feather..” to me.
“Controversial problems [between Germany and Russia] did not, in my opinion, exist anywhere along the line from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea and to the Far East. In addition, despite all the divergencies in their views of life, there was one thing common to the ideology of Germany, Italy and the Soviet Union: opposition to the capitalist democracies in the West.”—Julius Schnurre, Nazi trade rep to Russia.

F. L. Carlson, in his 256-page ‘The Rise of Fascism’, refers to Giovanni Gentile only once, and notes in a single sentence that he is a right wing philosopher.
Exactly. The ‘isms all belong in the same bucket of political slops.
