You can find this fun quotation puzzle, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications. I challenge us with the best ones out there.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, you’ll be solving them all within a few days. If you’re stumped, take a break and return to it.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram ASK THE GROUP FOR HELP!

I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hal’s Helper below.

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.

HAL'S CRYPTOGRAM HELPER

One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please don’t put the actual words of the quote in the clue.

CLUE FOR TODAY’S PUZZLE. Simply scroll your cursor over the text while left clicking your mouse, and the words should appear.

Came together right away. First word of author’s name, most common letter, then the second word, and there it all was.

That is the correct path, agreed.
I did
most common letter.
Get 2nd word wrong, fumble, back out.
Get 2nd word right.
Look at 1st word of author’s name...notice some funny punctuation, light bulb goes on.
5th and 6th words.
7th word.
8th-11th words.
12th word.
14th-16th words.
Mop up.

This one was quite quick, except for the author’s name…

Solution to last cryptogram:

KINDNESS IN WOMEN, NOT THEIR BEAUTEOUS LOOKS, SHALL WIN MY LOVE.---SHAKESPEARE

Bonus trivia

Taming of the Shrew, Act 4, Scene 2

In the movie Kiss Me Kate! the plot revolves around a musical with songs by Cole Porter based on this play. Hence, my clue yesterday: A musical within a movie based on a play by W. Shakespeare.

Fun!
Guessed the abbreviated word, but got it wrong.
My go-to word didn’t make sense as the second word so I made it the tenth word. This opened the CG.
