By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered as follows: Section 1. DONALD J. TRUMP THE WHITE HOUSE, December 11, 2020.
?? For Christmas?
Wonderful!
It is probably done every year like that.
Closed for the next 4 years.
Washington crossing the Delaware in Durham boats?
This is a generic thing, to be sure. Same holds for New Year.
Forced observance of a religious holiday
lol, my first thought was “permanently?”
When I first began to read this I was hoping he was permanently closing them as of 24 Dec. Unfortunately, I suspect most of them will come back after Christmas and expect to still have a job with a big fat paycheck . . .
The President of my institution usually does this.
(And as far as I’ve been able to tell, people of every faith appreciate it :-)
OK Ebenezer.
Just in case you can’t effing read, you can’t spell “Christmas” without CHRIST. Since it is the celebration of His birthday, yes it is a religious holiday.
You got a problem with that?
GFY
Go back to DU.
no, just appropriate behavior for a nation founded ‘under God’ in who’s name ‘we trust’ - just like on the dollar bill
The Constitution precludes creation of a nationalized church, such as the Church of England where attendance was mandatory, but the same Constitution gives us religious freedom to acknowledge and give thanks to God, of a nature understood by the anglo-saxon authors of the original document. Bearing in mind that athiesm didn’t exist in Western Culture until the 16th century and was closeted at that time. Under threat of being called a witch and burned for heresy or drawn and quartered and head piked for treasonous speech that would contradict the King being appointed and annointed by God.
You ain’t Irish.
I’m gonna give you a bit more respect than you gave me.
You’re too dammed illiterate to get that the EO telling them to shut down for a Christian holiday, was totally awesome in my opinion.
Perfect spelling can’t help those who can’t comprehend what they have read.
And the Christ in Christmas poke you tossed at me, hit me up privately .. what we call CHRISTmas is an insult to the mass observance of Christ on a pagan holiday. But that’s ok, we can just slap Christ’s name on every human immoral behavior and call it good - right.
No, I’m a federal employee and have been for 27 years and ONLY TRUMP has given us Christmas Eve off. He values Christmas.
Other Presidents have given us generally 2-4 hours off on Christmas Eve, usually 4 (for which I’ve also been grateful).
Trump is a force for good. I love Trump. Best president of my lifetime and best “boss” (I’ve served in my agency for Clinton, Bush, Obama, and now Trump.)
I think it’s awesome. I’m hoping it has multiple purposes behind it. But I’m getting more joy imagining the liberal elements within federal employment ranks, sour pussing over Trump throwing a Christian line drive at them. Didn’t bother to put a spin on it or even a slight curve... Just straight in over the plate.
