The Constitution precludes creation of a nationalized church, such as the Church of England where attendance was mandatory, but the same Constitution gives us religious freedom to acknowledge and give thanks to God, of a nature understood by the anglo-saxon authors of the original document. Bearing in mind that athiesm didn’t exist in Western Culture until the 16th century and was closeted at that time. Under threat of being called a witch and burned for heresy or drawn and quartered and head piked for treasonous speech that would contradict the King being appointed and annointed by God.
