Lactoferrin vs Covid-19: An Anecdotal Report
self | jimjohn

Posted on 12/05/2020 11:39:04 AM PST by jimjohn

This in directly from a relative:

"... I started taking lactoferrin in March after reading this: https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0023710
While I cannot guarantee that this has any effect, I can guarantee that I had two people living in my house who tested positive for covid-19, and I did not social distance from them at all, and I never caught the virus....

Although I have not taken this medication, And I can and will personally vouch for this adult male - mid 40's, and the fact that there were 2 confirmed cases at this residence. I was not among the confirmed.

https://www.webmd.com/vitamins/ai/ingredientmono-49/lactoferrin

“How does it work?

Lactoferrin helps regulate how well iron is absorbed into the body from the intestine.

It also seems to protect against infections from bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Lactoferrin seems to slow down the growth of bacteria by starving them of nutrients. It also destroys the walls around the bacteria. The lactoferrin contained in mother’s milk is thought to help protect breast-fed infants against infections.

Lactoferrin also seems to be involved with the production of blood cells and how well the body fights off infections.”

the problem with anecdotal though is that like in the case above, some folks get the virus, never feel sick and never knew they had it till tested later on- infact i think the majority of folks get it only mildly? So we don’t know if that happened there or not? Could just be that the person got it mildly, and would have done so even without the lactoferin? or just didn’t get it at all, and might not have gotten it even without lactoferin? it’s also not clear if anything else they were taking, or doing, might have protected them?

Then again- it’s also possible i guess that the lactoferin really did help- Too much unknown

i dont have the patience to read and synthesize info today but in a cursory search I have seen info on green tea when searching your term

Green tea is one of the things that has been recommended by the Texags Doctors to try to help with Covid.

Wrapping this around to covid...I talk about the Lung Dr who had ferritin levels of 18k when hospitalized with covid.

thalassemia has nothing to do with covid but it can cause ferritin issues...so wrapping it all together..I will have to look into it further

true...but you have to look at the science behind it which I have no patience for today...but this may help deal with it.

I did see they are doing studies on this so there is some science behind it...whether it truly works so as to be claimed in scientific journals is light years away.

I believe this (among others) could be a way to give some people confidence to join the human race again. Confinement is not the solution, and vaccines may not be either. I’m giving it a look. Thanks for sharing,

[[I did see they are doing studies on this so there is some science behind it]]

Yep- i skimmed through both articles- there does seem to be something to it-

[[which I have no patience for today.]]

Me either- got about 1/4 way through links, and brain started frying- Did look like it has promise though- Supposedly Xylitol nasal sprays also have soem potential too- easy and cheap enough to make if it is the case- We use a mouthwash with Cetylpyridinium Chloride (0.075%) in it, as it’s supposed to kill covid cells within like 20 seconds or so- binds them then kills them- i guess

But even if it doesn’t- oh well, it’s a good tasting mouthwash lol- certainly can’t hurt to use really-

green tea

I drank Turkey Hill Green Iced Tea mixed with Mango Vodka, cranberry juice & OJ all summer. Whether it kept away the Covid or not, at least I got a thirst-quenching buzz.

It’s irresponsible to tell people lactose rain will keep them from getting Wuhan flu.

It won’t hurt, there’s plenty in milk, maybe it does help.

But to present it as if it makes one immune or resistant is irresponsible.

But dude. This is anecdotal and might be true and worth noting. But in households totally exposed, not everyone gets it.

I had covid and had to physically while ill care for my mom with Alzheimer’s. There was no one else and I would not allow my young sons to potty and wash their grandmother. She was completely exposed to me right before I got sick and was surely contagious. Once I was ill, I was double mask and gloves but still doing everything to care for her. SHE NEVER GOT COVID. No one can believe it. And we didn’t take lactoferrin. And she has a million high risk factors.

So this virus is weird.

Yes green tea is good. But I drink iced matcha all day every day and still got covid. I do think with all the vitamins and minerals and nebulizing I did get away with a lesser case, no respiratory symptoms. I really was quite healthy.

One item - believe it was rummychick- mentioned back at the beginning was a clue, was info found on blood type as to severity of symptoms, with type A blood having more severe symptoms and type O much less or none at all.

Was the case in personal household.

Would be interested in abstract or reports if known.

Thank you.

I appreciate his post. He said it was anecdotal.

I didnt conclude from his post that it is a 100% sure fire way to keep covid away OR even that it will 100% work in everyone.

I dont think Drs are saying that about ANYTHING at this point.

Additional info: all at the residence were tested (and re-tested) in the same time frames. Even with no symptoms, he should have tested positive.

But from that I can also say that early on before the ‘rona’ was in vouge (late Jan/2020) , Stepdaughter and her daughter came down with all the symptoms. Yet the husband, had no symptoms at all (before social distancing was even a thing), and who worked at a Wal-Mart where no cases have been recorded to date.

“He said it was anecdotal.”

I reread the post and comment and do not see this.
