UN: "2021 is literally going to be catastrophic"

Next year is "going to be catastrophic" in terms of worldwide humanitarian crises, World Food Program executive director David Beasley warned on Friday, per Reuters.

Driving the news: The stark outlook comes as many countries contend with not only the coronavirus pandemic, but also possible famine, economic instability, conflict and other humanitarian crises. A record 235 million people will need humanitarian assistance and protection next year, a nearly 40% increase from 2020, the UN projected earlier this week

On Wednesday, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged nations to take greater action on climate change to end the "war on nature," saying "the state of the planet is broken." What he's saying: “2021 is literally going to be catastrophic based on what we’re seeing at this stage of the game,” Beasley told a special meeting covering COVID-19, per Reuters.

The WFP chief also said that famine is "knocking on the door" of dozens of countries. 2021 is likely to be “the worst humanitarian crisis year since the beginning of the United Nations," Beasley added. "We’re not going to be able to fund everything ... so we have to prioritize, as I say, the icebergs in front of the Titanic.”

So, unless we give you ALL of our money and become your slaves, we’re all doomed? Is that it?

That’s silly.
They can have whatever they want at market price.

Look at the price of bacon. They are ALREADY buying up all of our pork.

The Chinese have been building storage units that will hold 3-5 years worth of grains.

They know “something” is headed our way.

The US in general terms has its collective head up its own rear end.

And none of this even scratches the surface of financial and economy infrastructure which is pretty much gasping.

but also possible famine

Don't turn your country into a desert and you won't starve. A guy named Geoff Lawton did a project called Greening the Desert in the Jordan Valley, highly salted soil. He managed to get a bunch of stuff growing, including trees. Has things mulched to hold moisture, cut dips across contour to catch the minimal rain they get. Even had some fungi growing in the soil. Soil regeneration. The greenery was producing food. He had to leave for almost a year and when he went back, they had let it go to shit.

Slovenly methods of agriculture is how one historian/writer put it back in the 1800s.

And Freddie.

I guess Adam Lambert could cover for him at Band Aid 2021.

Worked pretty well so far.

Trump won. He’ll be inaugurated for a 2nd term. 2021 will be rough because of it. Libs will flip and be even more desperate. It’ll get ugly

Never let a catastrophe go to waste. Besides, we won't make it through 2021 anyway, because of Globull Warming.

I think we are discussing the record rather than the live performances.

No worries though

Translation:

WE HAVE TO TAX THE WEALTHY TO SAVE THE PLANET!!!

Well, if 2021 going to be a disaster due to AGW then it is FAR too late to do anything now. Might as well ride it out.

They’ll crash and burn everything to the ground and blame it all on Trump. Have you already forgotten the Media Mantra during the Obama years... “It’s Bush’s fault”.

how do they KNOW there will be famine?
Perhaps they are planning to create one, like their hero Stalin.
They are all about population control.

>>And Africa’s grain crop is literally locust poop. They will be hungry too.

And that locust swarm went all the way up across the middle east into the Ukraine.<<

But no GMOs. Better people starve to death (a terrible and painful death) than they be exposed to scientifically safe modified food that can withstand pestilence.

Let’s not lose sight of the end goal here, people: liberal smugness.
