UN: "2021 is literally going to be catastrophic"

Next year is "going to be catastrophic" in terms of worldwide humanitarian crises, World Food Program executive director David Beasley warned on Friday, per Reuters.

Driving the news: The stark outlook comes as many countries contend with not only the coronavirus pandemic, but also possible famine, economic instability, conflict and other humanitarian crises. A record 235 million people will need humanitarian assistance and protection next year, a nearly 40% increase from 2020, the UN projected earlier this week

On Wednesday, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged nations to take greater action on climate change to end the "war on nature," saying "the state of the planet is broken." What he's saying: “2021 is literally going to be catastrophic based on what we’re seeing at this stage of the game,” Beasley told a special meeting covering COVID-19, per Reuters.

The WFP chief also said that famine is "knocking on the door" of dozens of countries. 2021 is likely to be “the worst humanitarian crisis year since the beginning of the United Nations," Beasley added. "We’re not going to be able to fund everything ... so we have to prioritize, as I say, the icebergs in front of the Titanic.”

Territorial Seed company, although I have been less than happy with them recently.

Johnnies Seeds.

Other seed catalogues that offer Heirloom seeds.

Not so many generations back, people who didn’t get ready and store food for the winter weren’t even called foolish.

They would be called dead.

As in starved to death.

These last few generations are the first that live hand to mouth all year long, depending on the supply chain to always be working and dependable, as it has been for decades.

However, the March lockdown those infamous “15 days” that are now months in duration, showed how unpredictable the supply chain is when everyone decides to go out and buy all at once because they realize they don’t have more than a weeks worth of food or tp in the house instead of even 15 days worth.

No foresight at all.

AMEN!

I know, I’ve had enough. I’m more than ready for Jesus to return and set up His kingdom in which righteousness reigns.

The one seed that Territorial sells that I love and have not found anywhere else is Heinz variety plum (sauce) tomatoes.

They are very reliable, good producers. The crop all comes in pretty much within a couple weeks and it makes THE BEST SAUCE. Everyone who has tried that sauce for spaghetti sauce loves it.

I also grow my own herbs, as many of them are perennial, and garlic. Garlic is easy to grow and virtually nothing bothers it.

I put it in the ground in the fall, lay down landscape fabric between the rows for weed control, cover it with straw for the winter, pull the occasional weed that gets through during the summer and harvest it late July or early Aug.

It’s the easiest of easy to grow. I do hard neck garlic living in a northern climate and the bulbs and cloves I get are huge. The varieties are Music and Great Northern Premium.

LOL!

The only edible things I’ve had space and time to grow are chives (amazed me that they grew lush and stayed green in rocky and clay-ey soil until Christmas, here) and some very anemic salad greens grown in an Aerogarden.

But I’ll come up with something :-)

(I use the chives in a home-made ‘Boursin’ type recipe - coming up.)

I have learned that with the left, when they predict something is going to happen, they are not predicting it per se, but warning us, because it’s what they are planning for us.

Consider yourselves warned, folks.
