About 17% of Cadillac’s 880 U.S. dealerships decide against spending for necessary upgrades
About 150 General Motors Co . dealers have decided to part ways with Cadillac, rather than invest in costly upgrades required to sell electric cars, according to people familiar with the plans, indicating some retailers are skeptical about pivoting to battery-powered vehicles.
GM recently gave Cadillac dealers a choice: Accept a buyout offer to exit from the brand or spend roughly $200,000 on dealership upgrades—including charging stations and repair tools—to get their stores ready to sell electric vehicles, these people said.

Most dealers who accepted the buyout also own one or more of GM’s other brands—Chevrolet, Buick and GMC—and sell only a handful of Cadillacs a month, the people familiar with the effort said.

200K is not that much money for a luxury car dealer to spend on upgrades.
Of course the Chevy Volt was not exactly a big success, either.

I had the 2015 edition! Traded it in for the Toyota Tundra. I buy American being a patriot, but it was the turning feature which pissed me off. However, I can put heavy stuff on it, even a damn stone fountain years ago and the suspension held.
Lol! I’ll bet it made the police chasing her think twice too....

The 523 miles each way takes about eight hours in a gasoline-powered vehicle. The Tesla required three recharge stops, adding nearly three hours to the trip.
Interesting article.

My daughter drives nothing but luxury cars. She’s had Audi, BMW, etc. and keeps going back to Lexus. She drove my Mercedes the other day and when she came back said...I guess I’ll never own anything but a Lexus.
: ) Whatever that burnout is trying to sell, I am not buying. Propping up a buttwipe for some product. No thanks.

Yeah, that's the reason -- not supply constraints and the DNC's 2020 torpedo to the US economy.

My FIL bought my MIL Cadillacs for maybe 25 years. After the last one, they got a Toyota Avalon, which is made across the state from them. They’ve been quite happy with it. He can afford whatever he wants, but is naturally economical in what he buys. The repairs on that last Cadillac killed buying them again.
